Ethernet ftw mate, seriously. Home wifi sucks donkeys balls. The over riding issue with home style wifi is that you only have one radio, therefore any connection will only ever be a single duplex one. A very slow single duplex connection when every other device in the house is wanting a piece of it.
You got a power point near the router & another one over near the PS3? Then grab some of these:

The term Internet Issues suggests that the Internet itself has issues.
Whether that be in the form of the websites within the Internet, the users going on to sites and trolling people on the internet or the Internet needing to be turned off and on again.
What you mean to say is.
I have issues with my internet connection.
This in turn drives a better understanding of what you mean from the get go.
I can now see that I can provide no help, but you at-least have a better understanding of how to use English.

^THIS^
I had the exact same problem. I was using a stock standard Telstra cheapy.
All PS3's run on 802.11B, that means, if you are sharing a wifi connection with your PC, Laptop, tablet, Phone etc etc etc and they all have 802.11N, they will only run as fast as 802.11B because the modem can only run on one band and its always the lowest band.
if you still want to run your PS3 on wifi without this problem then get yourself a dual band modem/router... it solved my problem as it runs 2 different bands at the same time, enabling your PS3 to run on its own band and it doesnt slow down your other devices... i think there is even quad band modem routers at the mo. i got a Belkin N600DB.
to give you an idea, this is a picture of the router, i bought the Modem+router cost about $300

@ Schumie - my router is rated at N. We needed it for my brother as his room is above the garage.
It doesnt matter if no computers are on, or all of them are on, the PS3 gets bad connection regardless.
@ Bennoz - might grab a set of those. Cheers!
@ Shhtuart - to disable media server connection do I do that through my router settings or on the PS3?

and
Also, the internet DOES have issues. We know this. Have you not browsed through /b/ for example?
@ Shhtuart - nevermind, I found it. Cheers, I will test it out tonight. If not, its off to buy some of those adapters that Bennoz linked

I updated the firmware earlier tonight, so that's not the issue.
If its a bad router and modem, how is it running well on all my devices and why is it only lately that its not working with the PS3? (Cant think of a different way to word that - Im not being a prick, theyre legitimate questions

) Previously it has been fine, and I used to get good speeds with the PS3. Every couple of months though, the PS3 will have bad connection for a few days or weeks and it just kinda seems to sort itself out after a while.
Because you don't have a huge variety of devices to really test the capabilities of the router. I use to work as an IT Administrator and have been through so many different models and seen different issues, the cheaper ones always have compatibility issues, even if they may work fine on a few different devices. If you get a decent home router (by decent, I mean $150+ on the router alone) you'll have less issues from dropouts to proper compatibility.
As suggested, get a dual-band router like the one I linked to. Much easier to manage the traffic and cause less conflicts between devices.
Daniel2019 wrote:it just kinda seems to sort itself out after a while.
This is the cause of a crappy router.

It's under network settings on the PS3

If your wall adapter doesn't help then I'll take it off your hands once you get the new modem

My ps3 fucks with my net hey, cuts out all the time either wired or wireless. It's the only thing that causes problems.
I fixed it by walking outside

I used to get my ps3 to disconnect randomly on wireless, specially with any electronic appliances being turned on or off nearby. Traced it back to the wireless channel interference. My router only did 2.4Ghz ...wired connection worked with no problems.
