Hmm, I'm surprised the boot lid would be 12kg. How did you weigh it?
I used a hanging fish scale
Front guards are a waste of time, only weigh in at 3.7kgs

Oh and that rubber on the inside of the firewall, rip that sh*t out, there's 5kg
Fan, heater & AC boxes up under the dash, another 9kg.
Carpet, 2kg.
Passenger seat with rails, 17kg.

Oh and if you want to get really serious, strip the car completely and have the entire shell acid dipped. Then repaint with only 1 or 2 coats max!

On a Lancer the hood weighs 15kg and carbon replacement is 4kg so 11kg saving.
I don't know the weight of the trunk lid on an Evo VI however a carbon replacement only saves 5.5kg
If you used a 4 cylinder alloy engine maybe you'd save 40-60kg from your 6A12.
I know it's sacrilege, but K20a swap... ??

With the cage going in ill be cutting out door bars.
Ill be hammering the sound proofing off the shell when i get it back. I hear its up to 15kg on some cars.

Use dry ice. Planning to do the racecar soon and yep, will be weighing the sh*t.

Had it been a race car I think it'd still be difficult to get 1,000kg.
To give you an idea though:
-You could get a lightweight battery. I have a 20kg optima yellow top which I plan to swap for a 10kg model
-Carbon hood/trunk will save you about 10kg and 5kg respectively
-Delete passenger seat, rear seats, unnecessary trim, around 30kg
-Lightweight fixed back driving seat with no adjustable rail, you'll save about 7kg
-Titanium exhaust, not sure for the weight saving
-Polycarbonate windows
-Power steering/AC delete
This is pretty expensive though and you'd still be heavier than a stock CRX or EG for sure.
Surely a normal batt is no more than 10kg??? Or maybe I'm just a tank.

Batteries are surprisingly heavy, and in my post I was comparing my Optima Yellow Top which officially weighs 19.5kg to a small Odyssey (or such) battery which officially weighs 7kg. That's nearly 13kg difference. Take into account the heavy V6, if you relocate a lightweight battery in the trunk, get a carbon hood, and swap the cast iron extractors for mild/stainless steel ones and you can remove 35kg easily from the front while adding only about 7kg to the rear and achieve a better weight distribution.

If you are running this for the track then rip out the cat and all behind it and replace it with a side pipe and resignator. There would be a good 8-10kgs+ just there.
