The rear cover is more complicated in that it has a diffuser built in. Without the diffuser, I am not sure it would be legal.
I can certainly ask though.

Seems everyone is sick of their headlights haha. Wonder if they could do other things like custom tint taillights etc.

Ill pick up a set as well. Dont need themyet, but will squirrel them away.
Actually, I asked about the rear lights too last night, but my post didnt submit for some reason. Im looking for new lenses for my Project Fs, but am equally interested in a clear lens that will fit into the stock units. Might have to build inserts to go under it, but well have to see. At this stage interested in how much for a plain clear lens and for one that is an exact replica of the existing lens, but clear instead of red

By Friday I am hoping to have exact pricing.
Putting the headlights in the oven is really not that scary, just need to take a bit of care. My tips are:
*Put the headlights into a cold oven, don't preheat the oven
*Keep the oven on the lowest possible temperature setting
*Put the headlight at the bottom of the oven, this should be the coolest position. If your oven has a bottom heating element, don't switch it on
*Put the headlight on something like a cork or silicon heat mat or even just a tea towel, avoid metal
*Do one headlight at a time
*If your oven is very 'fast' you can place a baking tray in the middle of the oven, so that your headlight is in the 'shade' underneath, just make sure they don't touch
And most of all, just be patient. You want to give it some time for the whole unit to heat up evenly.
Oh, and bake some cookies while you are there. Everyone likes cookies.

Ok, this looks like it may have hit a dead end.
We can get the lenses made out of polycarbonate aka Lexan which is what the original ones are made of but not with the hard coating. No hard coating will mean that they will look just as bad as the original ones do once they have been sanded back. The alternate material is acrylic which has a much higher hardness but because of its high hardness, it is also brittle and likely to crack from a stone chip.
I will be looking into the possibility of applying an adhesive film to my headlights similar to what you put on a mobile phone screen. I will keep you posted.

Altrex Light Skinz? It looks like it could be the right stuff.
Might try get in contact with an automotive window tint fitter to see if they are willing to fit the stuff.
Then I just need to polish the crap out of my headlights and hope for the best.
Any chance of a quick write up of the products / technique you use for polishing up the headlights aza?
