When you do the hook turn your car is blocking that traffic anyway. They understand you are doing a hook turn and will leave a 1 second gap when the light turns green so you can complete your turn

what id swear more than half the divers on the roads today got their licences out of wheaties packets. the government says its making it harder for people to get their licences yet i honestly dont see it, peoples driving is getting worse instead of better

That's because all they are doing is focusing on the young drivers.
When in reality, young drivers will always be inexperienced, but rising road tolls etc. isn't on them it's on full licensed drivers. They are focusing on the wrong areas

i agree and disagree with that.
there are a lot of areas they do need to focus on but the one thing i think they should be focusing on is the elderly when it comes to driving coz these are people who got their licences by answering 3 road rule questions and then going out in a car with a copper for 30mins to prove they can drive a car......wasnt too bad back in them days not so many cars. but these days there are so many cars on the road you need your witts about you, in SA the elderly are the worst i think we have no driver test here to see if they are still ok to drive all they have to do is have a eye test..... disqusting!!! why is it in every other state once you hit 70 you have to pass one of those driver tests every few years yet here they get you to have an eye test every 5 years and then they give you your licence back and the cops and pollies wonder why more and more elderly are having and causing accidents HELLO!!!! just coz their eyes are good doesnt mean their reaction times are. last week i seen some old bugger get out his car he had a walking frame and could barely walk yet he has a licence..........not right. yes young driver are inexperinced but to my knowledge there is no law to make them go do driving courses before they go driving out on their own. now if they was made to do them before being allowed to have P plates i reckon we would have less accidents involving young drivers. ive done these courses and i found them not only to be very helpful and have actually been very useful in my day to day driving but they are also very fun. and also while i think of it with the elderly if we had a decent public transport system maybe a few more of them would be more inclined to hand their licences in before they cause an accident
it is just simple things like these that if done would improve conditions on the roads by 10 fold, why the government doesnt Wake the F up and get these things done is beyond me.
