Don't want a 5902? It's not that much more expensive and the AUS dollar is higher than the american dollar now ;p

Re: My car alarm
If you really want it use these guys:
http://www.priceusa.com.au/
I use them all the time when ordering stuff from America that doesn't ship here. Basically you'll be paying about $20 extra for postage + agent fees.
All up for that item you'll be paying ~$380

Re: My car alarm
Dunno, but it is. Probably something to do with starting it & accidentally leaving it in gear...

Re: My car alarm
meh .. she didn't have long left anyways..
hmm .. "apparently" the act of leaving a running car unattended is illegal, but having the device installed not so much .. i guess it'd be like having NOS is not illegal if it's not connected, but using it is.
Just tried calling the transport office to check, but they're not in til tues.

Re: My car alarm
I just bough the 5902 off ebay a month ago and had it installed. Got quoted around $600 by nearly everyone but Tonkins installed it for 300, this included hooking up the remote start. All in all great alarm. Auto arms, auto locks. Remote start is great, has a timer and you have to put the key in the ignition, turn it to on then put your foot on the brake to keep the car on. Putting it into gear or touching the brake without having the key in kills the engine.
Does not have boot release as standard, thats extra unless you already have the module in your boot. Hooking up the windows to go up or down was extra, as were extra sensors like tilt and EM. Key is abit bulky but the display is great. easy to use. You also get a second smaller remote aswell. Plenty of extra options you can add, like using the remote for 2 diff cars, garage door entry, remote de-misters etc

Re: My car alarm
sweet as .. so how do you go about adding the extra options? they come as additional devices?
I would install door poppers & shave the door handles & locks off
