They're far cheaper aren't they if they're race only? Although yeah you cant use it for daily.

what about having it permanently taking up a car space in the garage, having the need to buy/rent another vehicle with facility to tow the race car to and from the track?
and then the usual expenses for every track day?

Well, some people do, some dont have garage space. I've got 5 bloody cars at my place at the moment, including 3 FTO's & a boat 
Cost of racing is one thing, but much of that cost is offset by not having to pay annually to register & insure the vehicle.
