And you know about web design and usability how? This is exactly what I'm talking about.

Sites like this are information sites, therefore the text should be easy to read with proper contrast. Having a dark background with white text is just silly, but I don't need to explain myself to you because you don't have any experience in this area.

Not trying to flame you or anything just my personal opinion, it's much easier on my eyes on a dark background. Much like what Silver_GPX linked... May be something to do with using the computer at night with no light though..

Don't listen to these clowns ^^^ nighthawk

Its better having the text darker and background lighter. If it was easier for the majority of the population to read the way they claim, we would have educational books and novels printed on dark backgrounds, which we don't for a large majority.

I think a few variations of the top banner could be made and changed every once in a while, other than that Im fine with it. This is honestly one of the easiest forums to browse through compared to some others. I would welcome some of the suggestions made here regarding making some icons more obvious, or contrasting certain things to stand out from other things.

2 suggestions:
1) Make a bigger Quote button, its too tiny!
2) Make the time that the post was made more obvious.. perhaps not down the bottom under everything? Move to top of each post?

That's it :D It's a great looking forum, and so much easier to browse structurally and visually than many others I have seen

Oh I know, I knew what to expect when posting on a car forum when these people have no experience in the area. I am only taking on valid suggestions ;)

So far it's been, well everything I mentioned in the first post. So I guess nothing else major?

As for the time in the posts, that's how PHPBB lays out it's forums, I don't have much experience with PHPBB to go through the source code and move that.

Okay from doing an I.T diploma ive done a bit of webpage work,

yes it is frowned upon for having dark colours on a page and it takes a little effort to get it to work right.

But that doesnt mean it cant be done, i agree most people wont want a dark page.

But just have a light skin as default, isnt it all downloadable skins anyway?

We arent raving lunatics with no brains just because we are on a car forum.

Randomize the banner like this car forum
http://www.xfalcon.com/forum/forum.php? ... e1a67aa20c
Refresh it and it changes.

Its cool :D

As said, the darker style theme will be available in the near future. But requesting the forum to be dark as the default won't happen.

Of course you can download skins, but it takes a lot of tweaking to get it unique to the club and get everything how you want it. It would be silly having a completely different style to this with a darker theme. Could randomize the banner, although in my opinion it's a bit tacky and overused.

I like the idea of it changing, only way it could be tacky is if the picture looked bad. So only use good pics lol

Just curious what is the use of the preview button? It seems kind of pointless. Does anyone use it other than misclicks
