Mine did this once, back when I first got the car. It was a stinking hot day and drove into a bottle shop. I left the car running and when I drove off down the street it did this. I replaced the alternator (not for this reason) and it never did it again. I assumed the alternator fixed the problem but I can not confirm that. I know the GPX have a fail safe in them to stop them hitting MIVEC when the alternator is screwed, so maybe it is the same for the gr's

did they replace with gr or gpx alt? 2 or 4 pin style? as while they will work in either car it wont run correctly

So i thought it was the mod, i have soldered every think up in that area so it leads me to another connector the one under the fuse box by the air filter. I was moving the wires around that area and it sprang back to life, when it stops raining am going to try and disconnect it and clean it as its the only two things that had a impact with the revs.

I still haven`t sorted it, what i have done is locate it to a certain area. I pulled on the air flow meter wiring and it went over 4000rpm, i suspect it maybe a broken or damaged cable.

Does anybody know if there are any connections in the bungle of cables before it goes back to the ECU, as i plan to strip off the covers and inspect for damage.

Or if some one with a GR model can give me the resistance measurement on the air flow wiring, so i can move them around to see if it changes.
