i seriously wish i took a photo of mine but i couldnt be bothered cutting it up.

finally tightened the top bolt and even that little leak made a difference. its all good now.

my god the increase in power is amazing. hardly have to accelerate anymore.
and when i do WOW. i reckon i could be closer to the 125kw mark now.

its running a lot richer at idle. the rest of the map is okish.

will wait for a dyno day. plus still no news with the verniers. thats the next thing to play with!

oh and loving the oil and oil filter

What are the signs that needs a new filter?

Fuel filter was a piece of piss, 35mins! That's with the air intake and plenum already removed, so allow an hour, hour and a half tops!

Def take the intake and plenum off to give you some room to move.
19mm socket on a breaker bar to crack the top nut.
Then a long 14mm spanner to crack the bottom nut.
I didn't even need to hold the filter with a 19mm spanner, just made sure I had a nice solid fit with the socket / spanner then a quick snap to 'crack it loose'.
Make sure you have a decent quality 14mm spanner with a nice tight fit, if you round this nut you're gonna be completely fucked
Remove the 2x 12mm bolts holding the bracket to the firewall.
Pop the brake line out of the plastic holder.
Undo the top and bottom fuel lines being careful not to drop the copper washers from the top fuel line, or get any dirt or sh*t falling into them.
Remove Filter still in bracket and swap with new filter, making sure to get the new filter in the same position in the bracket.
Mount the bracket with the new filter back on the firewall and snap the brake line back into the plastic clip.
Connect the bottom fuel line to the new filter.
Connect the top fuel line with the new copper washers that should have come with the new filter.
Torque the top fuel line bolt to 20 lb-ft.
Tighten the bottom fuel line to about the same or a bit more (25 lb-ft).
Be very careful not to over tighten the fuel lines.

Jobs done!

Vlandis re your leak, did you remember the copper washers either side of the top fuel line?

I cut the old filter in half but it was pretty clean, so I reckon it's been changed not so long ago. Still better to know I have a new one in there than not know what condition it's in.

The fuel line that connects to the top of the fuel filter, should have a copper washer on the filter side, and a copy washer on the bolt head side.

haha, no worries, we'll do a diy at my place and u can help me drop the gearbox, replace the water pump and re install the eManage

And engine oil change, and front brake rotor indexing, and replace all the rocker cover up seals & gaskets, and... Got lot's to do before Bathurst 2011

Hmmm I got 630km out of this old fuel filter ( when I say old I mean I haven't changed it since I bought it 3yrs ago)

Oh and that's the same with the spark plugs.. 0.0

Lol. I smell fuel filter changing war. I think it only took Ben about 25 mins to do mine. He didn't take anything off and I think I honestly only heard 3 occasions of profanities.

FTO-BOY, my car still managed 700kms a tank on the highway prior to changing the filter so given the state of mine I don't think milage is a good indicator of whether they need replacing. Maybe consumption gets between the worse the filter is lol?
