Just have to do our best to stop when we see an orange light, simple as that. If we have to barge through a orange or red and get caught speeding due to wet conditions or a safety concern then you could fight it as some mentioned earlier. Moral of the story: Don't Speed!

I would challenge to say that since the introduction of red light camera's, I am sure the statistics of crashes thru intersections would have decreased.. And that out of all the accidents I have seen in my time, only a handful were near an intersection...

So apart from revenue, how are these camera's meant to be helping???

these cameras help because if more people lose their license their will be less people on the road

They're not losing their licence, simply getting fined with a slap on the wrist.

As I said, if they gave a sh*t, you'd lose your licence instantly.
But instead they see profit in making these damn things and hoping you slip up and they catch you...

If they did have a system whereby you lose your licence, and thereby had to carpool or use public transport (which apparently works soooooooo well) then it's a different story.

or

the next alternative, is you get a HUGE fine, get sent a bike in the mail, have to ride on the roads making everyone else drive at 40, get pissed off, they over take you
Get caught by a camera, lose their licence, get sent a bike in the mail
And the circle of life keeps screwing us all

Does anyone know how accurate or lenient the cameras are?

For example, whats the limit of the tolerances in the speed limit? 63 in a 60 zone is fine but 65 isnt? (etc)

Got a message from mulls driving instructor about these the other day, they are going to Post the areas they are on the rta website supposedly each day so they won't just be random, they also plan to place them in the black spots (hooray the majority of my drive to work is through one of the ) so they are just entirely revenue raisers.

A quick

A quick question though. Would it be possible to create an iPhone app that you could just click on every day and it would show you the information from te website really conveniently. Would that be legal? Sorry for double post the chat box over filled and I couldn't see what I was writing anymore

Btw I'll copy paste the messages here when I'm on my computer just to keep you all informed, he has fb messages all his old learners a fair bit of info about them and they are quite helpful and informative

An app like that was mentioned on Today Tonight last week, I am not sure what it is called though.

It was in this story:

It is called Trapster

Yep they will post the locations on the rta site each day, but it just comes down to what time they will be there.

"Research has shown that even travelling a few kilometres above the limit increases the risk of a crash. Drivers are reminded they should always drive within the speed limit and could be fined for speeding by even 1 km/h over the limit."
Funny how this came from a woman, and every collision I've been involved in, has involved a woman, below the speed, with them pulling out in front of me.

If I was going faster, I would have passed them before they even pulled out.

This is going to make people with wrong sized tyres massive targets

I saw that parking one before and that's what made me think about it lol.
Haha I agree with you there astron, as sexist as it seems the least skilled that I've been in the car with are always female, although they drive less dangerous than male drivers

PS: For the first month of operation with the new cameras, your first offense is waived and you will only receive a warning letter (July 19 to August 19 2010) — Watch people abuse this rule!
