Lol, yeah I know. Its so hard cause I just want to wail on her something chronic for driving the little pig nosed bubble machine but then I see her joy at having a company car and I have to keep my mouth shut. In saying that it is better than the 1 x Piece O' sh*t, commodore she used to drive

Aww it doesn't matter as long as she's happy. did the company car come with a promotion or something??? Anyways think of it this way, it'd be saving you a packet in fuel, maintenance, tyres ect

I've had a BA falcon on red p's and learners...didn't mind it, too big for me, and sucked the petrol like no tomorrow
that was followed by a ford focus. it was fun, and had its moments, but seriously underpowered and looked terrible. practical though
after that was a DC4 integra GSI. god that was fun, functional as well. wrote that off be spectacularly hitting a guard rail in the natio.
the cars i have at the moment are a 97 civic, that is fun, and nippy when there is nothing it it, although fkn lifeless and boring as bat sh*t. great on the fuel. $50 of BP ultimate for a week :)
and my fto, which i love so dearly. FTO is the best car i've driven.

other cars i've had a shot at have been a fiesta XR4 at wakefield, god that thing flies. i'd buy one if i had the money, just take out the traction control please

My sister has a Ford Focus, and even though she drives it like a total looney and decided to pop a burnout (don't ask me how) out front of my mums for no real reason, that car really is gutless as "bat sh*t" (to steal your term, cos I like it!) the bat sh*t on my back fence has more stink than her focus!!!!

I learnt to drive in my (now my mums) 2002 manual Mitsubishi Lancer CE (yes the little coupe ones) It's a 1.5lt hopeless little wonder, but it's the most reliable car I have ever owned. It's so light, it's small, It fits into the bays at Vic Uni...including those little ones that I would never dare attempt to squeeze my big arse beamer in to. It always seemed to go faster when I'd drive it hmm :P

I also learnt to drive in: a 2005 Holden Astra, I didn't like the breaks, they felt funny from stock (Driving schools car)
I drove my friends dad's Ford EB a few times, way to big, way to heavy, made me feel like a midget driving a truck, seats were comfy.
I also drove my friends '89 Mitsubishi Magna a few times I loved that car and I was soooo sad to see it go, but he got rid of it cos there was to much wrong with it, But overall the car was awesome!!!! It was that Magna that sorta spawned my love for Mitsubishi's then that was cemented by the 02 Lancer, and now Brenton's FTO has made my love for Mitsubishi's pretty much unshakable, not saying I wouldn't own or driving something else, but I will always have a soft spot for Mitsubishi's.

BMW 318I E36- I got this car about 6 months before I got my P's and I bitch about it, because I hate the electrical problem, and that it is to damn heavy, and big. And the seats aren't that great for long journeys but after driving that Cruze, I would take my Beamer back electrical problem and all....til it sh*ts itself on me again. I think I just miss having a damn car. I have been car-less for over a month now, and I so want it back!! I love the freedom of being able to drive my own car, make a mess in my own car, and know everything about it.

I thought after all of this bitching about it, I might drop a link in to it:

The prob with this is your compairing the fto to other cars not new to old every one of the cars listed will drive diff and are used for diff things

If were talking new or old ild say new less issues . Old cars are full of some one elses issues and takes prob the same amount to fix as buying a new car if I was to do it again ild be buying new

Yea the fto is a fun car but is out matched by features and power by a lot of cars

Well I've only driven a few cars enough to make a firm enough decision on them,
But the FTO thrashes them all hands down

First was my first car: a 1994 Lancer CC GL
Great little gutless wonder, love that car. It just never stopped going, I sold it to my brother and now the head, gearbox and something else I can't remember is going in it, but its still trudging on. I had it for 3 years, and the little 2 door coupe never let me down. Also loved the sound system I put in it (2 x 6"s, 2 x 6x9s, 2 x 10"s, 1 x 12"), it sounded so unreal in that little car!

Next car is my mum's 03 Fairmont Ghia, its an auto, but is fun to drive, altho feels really large and doesn't corner too well. Nice cruising car though.

My dad's 2006ish Subaru Liberty, (it's busted now) but when everything was going right, wow, 6 speed manual with sports clutch, So much fun to drive, it just took off! (and it's a stationwagon!)

And of course my new beast, my 94 FTO GPX, well we all know about that one :p

I know hey, My old one was a CE GLI and mum has done pretty much nothing to it, except services and tyres, but they really are gutless wonders :P

New cars can still have problems, someone was telling me lately that straight off the assembly line they can have 1 or 2 defect-able items.

I'm not saying that either are better of worse, and I wasn't comparing the FTO
