I do drive everyday but could just get a lift for a little while. I might do that.

Give them a call and post it, I just get worried that without the car to match it with I will end up with all different shades :|

Well they will need the car in the end to match it. But by doing it this way, they will be able to tell if they can in fact match to begin with, so that your not driving down there for nothing.

stereo? anyone have a quote on that one?

Pete? feel free to jump in anytime and lend your professional advice :P
Stereo? It depends on what you really want, can vary oh so much...
TBH I don't think you really need a sub in an FTO Because of the small cabin, but yeah if its what you want... then .. yeah
Its not that I really want one just thought thats whats needed for a good setup :P

IMO a sub is over kill, I just managed to fit 7x10's (had to make new parcel tray) but that with 6.5 and tweeters, amped of course sounded f**ken awesome. More than I would ever need.

sounds good to me, I only want something that is crisp and clear, I have never been a fan of huge bass :)

Im in the process of talking to pete about prices and was wondering about brands?
You guys suggest anything reasonably priced but still good quality?

What simon has is pretty much what I want :)

Like many people in this thread, I'm not a huge bass junky. However, that being said, I am a firm believer that a well set up and tuned subwoofer will nicely complement any decent speaker system. A set of 6x9s, or even 7x10s, will never be able to entirely emulate or effectively replace the 'need' for a sub. Speakers, unboxed and of a smaller cone diameter, can simply not reproduce the low end frequencies that a sub can. I'm a big fan of 10" subs, set up in medium sized sealed boxes. Run from a decent amplifier and utilising a correct installation and tuning procedure, it will add a whole extra layer to your sound system. I've set up plenty of systems using this kind of formula for customers who, like you guys, are not in it for the decibels, but rather the broadened frequency range that their set up will be capable of.

Of course, then there's the extra money needed on an amplifier, subwoofer, box and associated wiring. Sound deadening material would definitely also be a smart option for older cars like ours that are prone to rattles, however cheap alternatives and fixes can be found.

Anyway, food for thought.
