What about when you corner hard? Do they rub on the spring at all? Worried about the extra sidewall movement when i finally get a pair of r-comps.

No rubbing on the track.

What rim size are you running?

Hrm

Im running 17x8 +35. But theres only about 5mm of room on there now between tyre and spring tyres are 235x40.

What offset are yours?

As far as I can see they are +35

when you first put the tyres on you get some small rubbing untill you run them in about 6 laps on the track.

are we talking about coilovers or shocks+springs ?

If this is with shocks+springs, then we are looking at the tyre hitting the base of the strut plate, or whatever that is called.

I think if you are running coilovers, maybe if you are game enough, you can use spacers to avoid the tyre hitting the coils ? im just theoryrizing

Yep I am running stock springs and shocks and they only just hit.
So as soon as I change over to coilovers I could even go to 245's

i never knew you had stock springs+shocks aza!

i do remember my 215/45/17 was Just right for my old stock shocks+springs with the tiny bit lesser overall tyre diameter

What coilovers are you getting aza ? are you finishing your exhaust system first, or suspensions first ?

I had that issue with my old set up. With my old shock I just used an angle grinder to take a mil or 2 of the lower spring cup of the shock.
You shouldn't get anymore than 2-3mm tyre roll on the track, especially when hot.

Later on I used 5mm hubcentric spacers.

Ahh sweet. I keep having visions of the amount of roll v8 supercars get...

I thought coilovers had less room than the standard strut set up but it might just be uniformly the same as it is at the top on the standards

Im going to try the T1R next. Cant find the 595rsr in a 40 profile.

Ideally I want a 205/40ZR17 and both the R888 and T1R come in that

i might need a 40profile tyres, maybe just stick to the 45 for comfort and raise the ride height as my front inner metal guards are getting stripped of their paint and primer, and bare metal is getting exposed in a small section from the tyres rubbing onto it.

tell me about that rubbing problem. I have had it rubbing for 2 years now. but that bare metal is remarkably tough...

im just scared it will rust and all...i can only fit 1 finger between the tyre and fender on all corners but thats how low i'm willing to go... for now? running on 215/45/17 on the front. anyone else get that inner metal rubbing? should i be extremely worried ? should i do something before its too late for, whatever ?

Get the RSR's if you can mate they are a lot better.
But $209 for the RS is a good price for 18's, I payed $180 for the 235/45/17's
