Over the next couple of weeks, months, probably years, I will be transforming my yellow 95 GPX "COYR" into a 4G63 AWD monster.
Eltnot wrote:Woot! Project car!

Going to look forward to watching this develop. Are you planning to use an Evo or a Galant VR4 as the donor of your engine and AWD?
Can't use the VR4 as the donor as the gearbox is on the opposite side. Good luck with the project mate. She will be an absolute weapon!
So the Evo and the Galant both used the same engine but had the gearbox located on different sides?
Evo 1 - 3 and early VR4 (before TT) using 4G63's had the gearbox on the drivers side, Evo 4+ have the gearbox on the same side as the FTO. IMO if you are going to do an Evo conversion, then Evo 5+ engines are the only options, the 4's have many documented problems (not standard though, but when the wick is turned up)

Smooth and sleepy

All of lifes problems can be cured with a 6A13TT

Now remember this is my practice panel. THIS WILL NOT BE GOING ON THE CAR.
This is just to get the feel of the gun and paint etc.

This has now given me the confidence to get into the rest of the car. Just got wait for the RAIN TO F^&KEN STOP lol

Anyone one thinking about trying to paint at home.......GO FOR IT, its fun and way easier than i thought

LESSONS LEARNT
1) Dont hold the gun to far away from the job
2) Practice somewhere else before starting the job to get the settings right on the gun
3) Wearing a mask is good, not wearing a mask is great

Pahahahhaha, getting high's even better.....LOL.

Your suit looks like sexy times. My old mans a painter but won't touch car's to save his life, fucks me why. In my experience from spray painting houses, ppl can f**k up big time by concentrating too long on a particular bit. Paints sensitve as a clit, so you can't be too slow and let one area dry (pun intended). It'll give you a rooted finish as it won't dry the same. A couple of those cheapy halagen heaters from crazy clarks make cheap drying heaters too. Do not use fans!!
Also, if for some reason you've got bits of lumpy crap in your paint (either you've left it out and it's dry or you're just a dirty messy bastard), get a stocking and pour the paint through it into a new tin.

Btw Simon, Kat's gonna kill you if you get grey primer overspray on those lovely white walls in the background :P

@ 8u8813f1uff, see your other thread.

@ John, bahahahaha, love your metaphors lol. Oh and kat doesnt care about the walls.....its a rental lol

@ thanks nicholas, yeah practice is what its all about. The first application i did was shocking. Runs everywhere and because i had the gun to far away from the job (at times), the time the paint had reached the panel, it had dried and then left bumpy bits everywhere.

But thats the great thing with acrylic, just sanded it back and started again. Next coat was perfect, so, very happy with the outcome.

Tonight, i will do a top coat........

Real men dont use sperm suits or face masks, you gheyer.

The last time I sprayed a car, I did it in my driveway under a tarp... and compliments of a stiff southerly breeze, the 3 houses to the left of me complained of having British racing green tinted doors & window sills

bahahhaha, nice, bet they loved that. At least their houses would go 25km faster.

I made a temp spray booth in my garage, using drop sheets taped to the ceiling. Worked a treat, except for the total lack of ventilation...... But hey, at least the fury naked leprahauns helped clean up 8O
