hmmm maybe not then if its going to cost 20k but ill see what they say when they get back to me!
4g63 sounds good but considering no one has done it yet makes me a bit weary...
remember i only have a 18k limit here...
that includes exhaust and new shocks and lowered springs...

6a13 would be good if ben could help me out with parts and so forth so that i wouldnt have to fabricate any from scratch as that would not be very cheap down here!

and a gr hmmm that would be the easiest but thatll be my last resort i reckon...

well ive got 15k to spend on the engine...
6a13 or 4g93?

im guessing 4g93 will have more support for parts and so forth
and more mechanics will know how to service it...
ill look up to see if theres any write ups on it to see the problems with it...

when you said it wasn't a joke & you were doing it no matter what any one said .. I figured you had already sussed out the costs involved ..

I definitely recommend not going ahead with it mate.. instead go for 6a13 with stock turbos / put a blower on / 4g63T

If you're getting a workshop to do the work & they aren't related or best mates, then don't go that route.. they will bleed you dry..

the post above i think the motor was a 4g63 mate well i am going 6a13tt so i would say that but u can get way more parts for a 4g series motor mate but more modification needed i think. the positive is the motor is smaller so you have more room in your engine bay.

4g93 is a lancer / GS Fto engine

4g63 Turbo is the Evo engine <--- you want this ;)

i had discussed it with them...
i just didnt know how much it was going to cost just to keep running until i spoke to my mechanic...

i mite go with the 4g63....

ill discuss it with my mechanic...

just for ease of mind the gr engine may be better

ive emailed rpw to see if they could tune it down a bit by lowering the compression and having lesser cams but they havent gotten back to me...
so now we wait and see...
if they cant do anything then i mite go the gr turbo path...
I think the frankenstein engine would be awesome and I hope it works out for you. I would be getting a second opinion from another mechanic though. IMO it shouldn't need a rebuild every 15000kms if you
1. Service it say every 5000kms
2. Properly warm up the engine before driving it
3. Dont flog the crap out of it all the time.

Also I dont see how it would need race fuel when bike engines can run the same compression or higher on 98 octane. Should all come down to the tuning.

If you're going the 4g63 route then hit up the guy selling his ready made 4g63 .. it might work out cheaper & easier than doing the conversion yourself.

No different than getting a loan to buy anything else.. & there ARE stupider things to get a loan for IMO

If he's spending it on something that makes him happy, then I don't see a prob?

plus itll be paid back by end of next year...

i have to disagree that it's the perfect time to get a loan ..

Banks are not feeling as generous to give the cash to people in case they can't pay it back + they are feeling the crunch of the economic crisis..

With the job market the way it is it may not be as easy to get another one if you become redundant or get laid off because of the crisis..

but meh .. you won't be sorry if you know you're not going to want a diff car in future..

i have 3 jobs haha im just impatient with saving money...

ive got the money now anyways just hard to decide what to do with it...

another option i was thinking of was not turbo stay NA rebuild my current engine and do it up with the rest of the cash...
ported manifold and TB as well as the ported heads from the frankenstein engine plus the extractors, proper 2.5" exhaust with good hi flo cat with quad exhaust, transmission cooler, FPR, short shift kit, new shocks and lower car. sway bars
maybe cams but not sure if they're worth it...
any other suggestions to that setup?

i just love the sound of the 6a12 itll be hard to part with if i change engine...

oh and aza they told me $9000 for it...
