And then there was 3...

I've basically got 3 cars left on my list.

1. That Blue GPvR, it just looks god damn amazing. I havn't had a chance to see it in person yet, but I think it will be damn fine. My only problem, is his asking price. $27!! For a 96 model car. It just seems like quite a bit much. Once i've seen it in person, I will place a bid on EBay, but, his reserve of 27, is just ridiclous, I think.

2. Silver manual FTO GPX. It has an ugly custom front lip, added side skirts, and a rear wing, which I havn't seen yet. 100k on the clock, but his price is too good, to not look twice at. Only 15k, I could prolly replace the front, with like a GPvR lip or Vielside kit, and still be saving muchos $$$. Plus it's manual. I still havn't seen this one, in person, and I think, the condition might be pretty bad off, considering the price, but it's more then $10k cheaper then the blue GPvR.

3. White tip gpx fto with front vielside. What I like, is the colour, and overall condition of the car, it's pretty good, considering, I've seen this one in person, it has some nice rims and a nice cat back exhaust. However his asking price is $18.5. Which is still 3.5 more then the silver, and the silver was manual. All 3 cars are arround 100k mark, this white one, did have some decent, rims though, and the interior was sprayed silver, which did look nice, but I know, isn't too costly.

So thats where I'm at... On Monday, i'll try and get a look at either the blue or silver one, and then another look on tuesday at the other one.

I would very much like the Blue one, but at 27k, it seems rather steep. Even, if I could get him down to 23.5k, it still seems very expensive.

To be fair though, the blue one is a GPvR. And being the blue colour at that. It comes with a number of aftermarket parts as well, which all adds up to $$.

And the condition of it looks pretty good from the pictures, which means less hassles after you buy it, and less $$ to fix up.

Any pics of the other cars?

i'd go for the silver... after that you can have some fun modifying it to suit your taste, like the front bumper for example...

oh, did i mention i also have a spare brand-new GPvR front bumper for sale?

hehehe... i oughhta be ashamed of myself :P

Having seen the blue GPVR i would buy it even at $27000 because you wont have to spend anything on it,and would probably have a better resale value later on.If my fto wasnt anything special (turbo) i would sell mine and buy the gpvr, its that good.

Turns out, the Black one, wasn't sold (I mustve called up the wrong guy), and furthermore, she has come down to 16.5, I think I could even take a few more hundred off that.

The black one, has custom extactors, 3inch exhaust, mivec controler, super afc, front strut bar, and a pretty decent cai. plus the rego had just been paid.

I did see the blue one today, and well, it is in pretty good nick, there was a bit of a scratch on the bonnet, and some of the rims were scratched a bit, but some of it mite of been dirt too... Overall it is in good nick, but, seriously, I think his kidding himself at 27grand. The car has clocked up 103k km's, the timing belt is due, and so is rego. So thats an extra 1grand on top of it. It is a very nice car, but, it's also a lot more expensive.

Now, I still have to inspect the silver fto, but that was manual, and at 15.5k, if it's in decent nick, why would I turn it down? I mean, think about it. I could respray the car, to any colour, redo the intire interior, redo the front lip, add whatever mods, it already has an exhaust (3in full cat back) not sure about struts or cai, but I could add those fairly cheeply, and even redo the suspension. With the silver one, I'd be saving mucho $$$. I already have a cd-deck at home as well (top of the line clarion DXZ-835), which is better then any audio set-up i've already seen.

Really though, the Blue one, is simply a tip, gpVr with some standard mods, in a sepcial colour. Thats about it, I'd think, the manual, would have more power at the weels, then the blue tip.

and If i do end up with the silver fto, I will most definantly hit you up for that gpvr lip, as the thing, currently has this ugly ass front-lip (custom body kit)

Update!

Post by Guni_GuGu »

OK, so I went to check out the Manual Silver GPX FTO which he is asking for $15, so I already figured, there would be something wrong with the car, as it's relatvily cheap. I mean, it does have this real real ugly rear wing, and an ugly front lip, but still, it was pretty cheap. The car, had some pretty decents mods as well I guess, front strut bar, CAI, full cat back 3in 5zigien (sp?) exhaust, suspension redid.

Anyways, I took a look at it all, and it seemd pretty god damn good, I mean, no real noticable scratches, ot fitting marks in the engine bay, not one dent i could find. But this is where it gets funny, we took it for a ride, and I was talking about getting a full veichle inspection on the car, and I said, "I would get any vehcile i spend over $10K inspected", then in a sarcastic and joking manner, I say "Unless you want to sell it to me for less then $10k).

silence

I say "That was a joke, I don't really expect you to come down to $10k), him "What about $13k". I said, nah, even at 13, i'd still get her inspected, and then he goes on saying, well, if you want to have her inspected, i will have to leave it at my original price.... blah blah blah.

Now this is where it gets me, why the f**k, would getting an inspection make him, want to keep the price higher!?# Should I even bother considering this car? He is obviously terrified of the full vehcile inspection. On another note, i would bet my life, he is the worst poker player ever, because, regardless of inspection, I know, he can come down to $13 now, which is god damn cheap.

So what do you all think? I looked at the engine, and it did say mivec, and everything seemed to be in working order.... what the hell, could be so damn wrong with the car?

plenty could be wrong, and worth more than the 2g your saving.
for example.

100k major service
<50% of breaks left
clutch my need replacing (though u could probly tell if it did when you tested it.
may have been in a major accident???

OR

he just may be really really really eager to sell it and hasnt had any offers on it.

If i were u i'd still get it inspected.

Jus my 5cents.

what are the specs of the car again? year, kms? etc...

if you feel like you have inspected it with your untrained eye and driven it with no major drama unfolding... I say... forget the body language or attitude of the guy, get it inspected asap... as long as there's no MAJOR
problems... BUY IT!!!! that is cheap...

you can always say things so you don't get in his bad books like "my parents are helping me with the payment of this car, and their condition is that I get the car i want to buy inspected".
he's probably just sensitive coz it's his baby and your 'devaluing her worth' :) we don't want to sell our FTO's cheap.. they're priceless in out eyes :P

put it this way... if there is something BIG that's wrong... the inspection is bound to pick it up... since you've driven it.. it looks like you're quite happy with it... but be prepared.. the instpection will find something wrong with the car.... it's a 9 yr old car (assuming its a '95 model)...

but as written on the other thread... this could be to your advantage.... you can use the report to futher get the price down from 15k to 13k???
which is a STEAL.... :)

what you will find though is that this person may have tried to sell/trade in this car to caryards and they gave him a yard price of 13K.
that's the reason why he is willing to go down that low... coz that's what he's been offered??? OR THERE COULD BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT :?

but you won't know until you get it checked.... my advise is leave a $50 deposit with a written receipt.. put a condition that if there are problems found during the inspection, you have the option of not going through with the sale.. coz, you'll be kicking yourself if there was nothing wrong with it and some1 else bought it for 13.5K coz there was no deposit from you. etc... you can always get the $50 back..

GG, why don't you get the dude selling the car to join the forums?

We can then ask him all the important questions :)
