cause pretty much everything you and your mates got done for can be fought against.
2 sizes above standard wheel? ha f**king ha. 3 sizes bigger is LEGAL, 4 sizes bigger is safe as long as it's load rated, unless you get a sh*tty piece of bacon.
Top mount turbo? fully legal. f**king stupid bacon.
Exhaust too loud? like that'll stop your mate driving.
too low? theres no such f**king thing. i HATE stupid bacon that dont know sh*t.
go to your local station with you and your mates and complain. post the results here.
will be interesting to see if they want to stick with the fines or agree that this officer that booked you is a f**king wang.
And here you are talking about the "bacon" not knowing sh*t..
Legal is one over. So legally for FTO's you can have 17" rims, 18 is illegal.
"Exhaust too loud? like that'll stop your mate driving" - What kind of statement is this?
No such thing as too low? Wrong again.
Anyway, the cop sounded like he really didn't know sh*t and just had it in real bad for sports cars / P platers.
hehe u beat me too it.
Top mount wont pass EPA either, as they are big- illegal. Might have even been cos he had a cooler or pod, one intake mod allowed in Vic.
why fold your mirrors, just looking for trouble, didnt u see the defect station?
and going with your mates, spoken with expereince no doubt lol.

Same in NSW. Its not the size of the rim here, its the over diametre of the wheel. It cant be more than 1 inch larger than stock overall.

I think there are 2 seperate rules, LOOK INTO THIS IN YOUR STATE IF YOUR CONCERNED
I've only got 17's so haven't been bothered checking. But I've heard of both the only one inch increase in wheel (the wheel only, not including tyre) diameter, and the one inch difference in total (being wheel and tyre, a low profile tyre on bigger wheel can therefore still be legal under this rule) diameter being used in QLD.
So if your confused get onto a modifications booklet from your states road authority, all of them provide this for owners as mentioned previously.

Most of the time you'll be alrite with 18" since they don't really look out place and cops wouldn't usually know fto's come with stock 16's.
Even if they did, it's very uncommon to get defected for something as minor as that - I'll put it this way, if you're getting defected for having rims 1 size too big, you'd probably get defected still even if they were 17's because it means the cop wants to give you a ticked so bad that he'll find any reason to give you one.
