I reckon they are the roght ones as Bennoz fitted them before. I got the shocks but have not install them yet. keep us updated.

In the mean time, you might need others parts like coil wraps, bumpstops and spring compressors if you want to DIY.

ok just heard back from James at Tubular. He spoke to the guys at KYB and the part numbers that link to the Volvo shocks do fit but only with the stock wheels. He was saying something about having to check the back space and stuff so basically if you dont have the stock wheels those volvo shocks will not fit. The other option is to get full coilovers which will end up costing me about $1800 which is far too much for me.

Does anyone how much it would cost to get the stock shocks from mitsubishi?? or can someone tell me who i can ring to find out coz ive lost the number for mitsubishi lol

that sounds a little funny to me mate. I've got those shocks and not stock wheels and have no issues. Sure the tyre can mark the bottom of the shock (there is bugger all space there at my cars lowered height) but this hasn't caused any issues for me. Did he explain why they would not fit with not standard wheels? I don't understand, as long as the wheels are the right size and offset there shouldn't be any problem.

Thats absolute rubbish. Mine are KYB's and i have 17 inch after market rims. it fits just fine. I done think the offset and spacing has anything to do with the shocks doesnt it? or am I wrong here.

And one more thing, i tries ringing up Mitsu for the shock price...it cost about 285 .Cant rememeber is it for one or 2 shocks

yea i dunno... he said something about checking your back space and stuff.. i didnt quite understand it coz im not that good when it comes to all the specifics of a car lol

i think im just gonna go straight replacements from Mitsubishi depending on how much they are.

does anyone know where i can find out prices from Mitsubishi? phone number or something lol

How big are your rims? I reckon the KYB is fine actually. Its a straight fit. OEM parts are very expensive and Mitsu always jack up the price once they know u own an FTO. Google it if u need the dealer number...thats what I did.

Sorry if i sound rude but i dont mean to be but ive been in the sun all day drinking.

Mate you ask our opinion and we give it 2 you, then you second guess it. Either trust us (who all have FTO's) or trust some gimp who know's friggan nothing (obviously).

Im sure i've heard kyb's fitting an fto before without any issues. I remember bennoz recommending them to me infact. So i dont think it matters too much on what rims you have, as long as they are a suitable offset.

To put your mind to ease though... i would say to go to another suspension specialist and get a second opinion. Do a bit more research and then make a decision, also ask some of the guys here with a kyb setup for their opinion.

I had those exact KYBs with 18's.

Lowering the car makes absolutely no difference to shock selection because its done via the springs.

And theyre on my car now ;) . I may be able to solve this one. I have a set of used Cusco D2 coilovers that might be up for sale soon if you can hold out. Just have to give them a checkout to make sure they are ok.
