Way ahead of you..
He owes money to a finance company (which he will pay out upon sale..no money as of yet to do so apparently), and the RTA fines are because of him losing his license and letting the REGO run out.
Basically, as soon as the seller clears up the problem with the finance company, this thing will be perfectly good to fix and register.

Waiting on further word back from the seller on whats wrong with it (and what model it is), because as a few of you would already know, the mobile number is not the sellers.

maybe you guys should talk this one over instead of bidding against each other, fight it out on the forums and not with bids to save wasting money for whoever will inevitably win

don't know how you'd do that though :? maybe bid war is the only way

For whoever does eventually buy it, just beware; there is no way in hell that you should trust him to pay out the money owing on the car himself.

The procedure that you should take is to contact REVS and find out who the company is that has a financial interest in the car. Then contact them and see how much is still owing on the car.
From the final sale price, you deduct whatever money is owing on the car and transfer that to the finance company YOURSELF, and give whatever is remaining back to the seller. That is the only sure-fire way to make sure you'll get a car with a clear title.

However, because it's been smashed, it's very likely that the value of the car will not even meet the finance still owing on the car, so he'll actually need to put in extra money to the finance company (on top of the money you send to the finance company from the purchase of the car) in order to clear the REVS register.

Basically, you need to be careful when there is money owing on a car, and don't trust the seller!

Good call Nick. The ad states that the guy paid in the vicinity of $18,000 for the car, now who knows how long he's had the car and how much he's paid off it but thats not a small some of money and it's prob still got a substantial amount left on the loan.

He's def not gonna get what he needs to clear it selling a smashed car (like someone else said, he would prob be better of stripping it for parts).

I mean I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't have been paying more than 3ish grand for it. Dunno whether you guys think that would be too much or too little but it's gonna need a bit of work! Be interesting to see if anyone manages to bid over the reserve so we know what it is.

Wait..so if it's at 1k already, WTF is this guy wanting as the reserve?
even 1k is fair for a smashed GPX with over 150 thousand ks on it.

Nicholas i think that has to be the most intelligent comment you have made on this forum. I couldnt agree more.

+1

I was even thinking 3k was really too much but well they are normally over 10,000... more for post-facelift. I don't think he'll sell it personally...

If I was to have a go at it I would not be putting new rego on it. It will be for parts only

it's not even above the reserve yet.
i hope whoever has bid that much has AT LEAST rung them to find out if it's a GPvR or not.
