i've been on hsc so i haven't been able to take a look back here.

yesterday i went and test drove an xr6 ute with canopy. this one to be precise

pardon the long link

http://carsales.com.au/used-cars/privat ... 13&trecs=3

the seller is really nice, that price is cheap for the current market, and he has a colour coded canopy. the tray is long, wide and pretty deep, and thats what she said

its really easy to drive, and its comfortable. i'll take a look for some legnums, see what kind of price i can find, but not till the 27th...bloody hsc gets in the way of everything

HOORAY english paper 2 tomorrow...

thanks again for all your help guys

I'd still get the Legnum over the XR6.

Sure, it's not P-Plate legal, but all you need to do is state exactly whats it's used for - the truth, transporting your music stuff.
if they ask why you need 2 turbos..you just don't answer, and stare at them.

The reason i'm saying this, is because my mate has a modded XR6T and aside from the great engine and decent ride, the interior is really crappy having tons of rattles, the brakes have a tendency to shutter like a bitch even after getting machined, and the overall interior feel is so platic it's not funny.
his ute cost just under 45k, and the interior is the same as my parents subs 25k work XT - the ride feels exactly the same(albeit lower and slightly harder), and the speakers are identicle.
you'd think that on the XR models they would be worth the money, but IMO if you are going to get a ford ute, get one of the lower, basic models and enjoy laughing at the people driving XR's who just got ripped off over 20 grand.

Yeah, I've heard the build quality of the Fords is rubbish. Legnum is good, just be prepared to pay 3 grand when you need a clutch done.

i can't get a legnum

checked insurance on it, that was an estimate of about a billion dollars with discounts (I'm only just on green p's). parents refuse to allow me drive a car with 1 turbo, let alone 2 (although it'd be really really sweet :D), and in hindsight it is actually dads car, i'm driving his focus atm, and this would end up being his ute, or whatever it is i was to buy, it is my dad who is to make the final decision. i know that sounds like i'm a real softie, but it is my dads car, and i'm not gonna go buy some sports car that he won't fit in just for example...i'd like that though :)

what exactly do you mean by the buld quality is bad ben? i know the interior is plastic, but if it gets the job done of carting all my crap around, then thats really all i care about. but if its bad mechanically i will reconsider.

As i said..the interior has tons of rattles, the engine build quality is slack (ie, bolts holding turbo can come loose at full boost which is VERY bad - this happened to my mate, long story short he had to spend over 6k on a new turbo), the brakes are crappy after a few hundred thou km's..etc.

But saying that, they are very comfortable, very smooth, fast, good interior if you can stand plastic, parts are a decent price and last but not least, they kick the back tyres out fairly well when they have nothing in the back :D

If i had to choose something in your situation with no turbos, i would go the XR6 with a CAPA chip and some decent tyres - that setup will fare you well for a good couple of years providing it's looked after well enough.
