sublime19 wrote:Actually, you could get a fine.
When I lost my license, it was the first time I'd been pulled over as well. I lost all 7 points in 1 go. Back then I was on my green Ps and it was double demerit weekend.
I was doing 16 kms over the limit, I had a decent conversation with the cop, he seemed nice and we had a bit of a chat and I told him I appreciate the police blah blah and then he didn't issue me with a fine or even seemed like he took my details down.
However, later I got a fine in the mail, and a letter saying my license was suspended.
This happened when he was waiting on the side of the road with a radar though. So if the cop who caught you was stationary with a radar, you'll get a fine more likely than not.
HOWEVER - If he WASN'T then you're in the clear. I got pulled over 2 weeks ago doing 70 in a 60 zone. The cop came out of nowhere and I know he must have been in the side street somewhere. Pulled me over, said
"What's wrong with your driving today"
"Nothing"
"You know how fast you were going?"
"Not sure, around 65?"
Cop says "65? try a 100"
I said " Pretty sure I wasn't doing a 100, couldn't have been doing more than 65"
he goes "So, who're you calling a liar, you or me?"
I said "It's not my intention to call anybody a liar, I just know I wasn't doing more than 65"
He took my license, asked me "Have you got any driving offenses?"
I said "Not since I've had my full license" Which is true, cos I havn't.
So he checked it out, said my license was clean, but he was going to book me for 1 demerit point. Which was bullshit, cos there's no fine for 1 demerit point, and I didn't get a fine also. He said he's letting me off cos he has me on his radar clocked doing 100 which I more bullshit cos I know I was doing 70 when he pulled me over.. was just trying to intimidate me.
So yea, if he was stationary, you can possibly receive a fine like I did when my license was suspended, otherwise you should be ok.
I was pulled over by an undercover cop car. It wasnt a radar.

i was being sarcastic, you should know by now that nothing that i say should be taken seriously, although i have received sneaky penalties in the past.

you drive a focus like an fto by;
thinking you own a sportscar with 200bhp v6, rather than a car with a lunchbox for a motor with 96bhp v4
having a "muscle condition" where you can't keep your foot off the floor on either the accel or the brake
forgetting it has a tip and redlining it for several seconds before realising you've left the bastard in the tip mode and changing to second
power sliding around corners you forget to brake for by pulling the handbrake
going to hefron car park, doing crappy burnout
pretty much doing something a westie would do in a v8, except doing it in a lunch box of a car

I sincerely hope when (if) you do get an FTO, you don't drive it like a westie in a V8.

its me being a stupid over confident p plater having way too much fun, and look where it got me, back on the bus...
i gotta be careful what i wish for, i hated that car, now more than anything i want it back
and the fto would be my baby, would only put it to the test at track days, and stay out of the cops way, there would be minimal chance that i would drive it like a westie in a v8 commodore or something. my fto would see a lot of TLC.
