well i got a warranty on it so i have to get it serviced every 5000kms, and never drive it to hard.

And you have owned it for the full 80,000km, thats my point, you dont know hopw its been looked after before you owned it, my box has done 140,000km and it hasnt missed a beat

Hi everyone..

I have bought the GPX transmission. but my mechanic told me he couldn't fit it in to my GR car. i need a drive shaft. He has tried and it just didn't match my GR car. I have no idea what the drive shaft is...But I just couldn't get it fix without it...and my mechanic told me he has searched around adelaide but couldn't get the right drive shaft to replace it.

I am here for some advice. Any one knows where can I find the drive shaft?

I wasnt aware that the transmission was different between the two. Correct me if im wrong, but that sounds like rubbish to me. The driveshafts do vary based on ABS, and whether manual or tip, but not between models of tip

There are some variants on the driveshaft couplings. For instance, I know the 5 spd tip & 4 spd tip ends differ. Manual & tip also differs.

You've got 2 options:

1st - tell the mechanic to open up the gear box & swap the driveshaft ends with the ones from the old box. They go right into the diff centre so there is some work involved in that.

2nd - go find some driveshafts

ive got a non abs 4sp tip driveshaft (the long one) if that helps

And dont forget, the ABS portion of the driveshaft is only related to the CV joint, its just those teeth on the CV housing. The whole CV assembly can be removed from the one driveshaft & put on another if need be.

Not likely. You need to get some manual ones. I think they're part of the manual conversion parts list anyway.

You don't need the driveshafts unless you have a 5speed tiptronic box but you do need the green CV cups that go into the manual gearbox as there are 4 different types and your tip ones might not fit. What we do is when the manual box is fitted we send our tiptronic green cups back to the gearbox supplier to put back on his driveshafts. If he won't do that then you will need the original manual box driveshafts.

Exact listing of parts required:

Clutch pedal assembly
Brake pedal assembly
gear selector
selector cables
gaitor
gear knob
Gearbox
gearbox mount
master cylinder and pipes inc.slave cylinder and all brackets
Flywheel, clutch, pressure plate etc.
Rev counter
All nuts, bolts. clips etc
Plug that goes onto the reverse sensor with a bit of loom.

Its all a very straight forward fit with the only wiring that needs to be done being on the original gearbox loom (large black plug). you will need to join the two bigger wires (black with yellow stripe and black with red stripe) together and also you will need to wire in the reverse sensor to the red with blue stripe and black with yellow stripe (small wires), these are positioned next to each other.
