It won't work, PC OS linux is written for x86 CPU's

Yeah but the problem with our situation is that car technology isnt moving anywhere near as fast as computers.

The PS3's failure rate is more like 4-6%, and the wii is less than 2%...
take into account the fact the Xbox 360 has sold more than double the amount of units the PS3 has, and the failure rate is actually not bad.
Besides, The newer 360's don't have this problem, nor do the elites.
