And the point about going to fair trading is ridiculous. The company only quoted a price, they haven't done any unauthorised work so what does fair trading got to do with it.
From the info given (his engine is in pieces in buckets?*) sounded like they've already taken things to pieces to me .. If they in fact haven't done any work yet, then yeah .. easy, pack it up & ship it someplace else..

From all accounts that I've read on the forums UAS has always been a decent place to take your car for a service .. I've recommended a few people onto them too.. so hearing this is kind've disturbing..

I've done almost 200000 and have had my car 8 years, guess how much I have spent on my engine? Prob about 1000 bucks all up, thats excluding the trannys of course!

Helps doing everything yourself.

Only time I've spent money on labour for the engine is when I had my drive shaft changed! Costs? 60 bucks :)

Has it been worse the head ache with doing everything myself?

Prob not! haahah.

Got my 100,000klm service done at IS motorsports for around 2K. That included timing belt, water pump, power steering belt, air con belt, a couple of seals and the timing belt tensioner. They even changed the fuel filter, spark plugs and spark plug leads for me aswell, I supplied those parts though.

They completed the lot in, wait for it....... ONE DAY ! 8O

3 mechanics worked on it the whole day for me. Asians always look after their own kind ;)
