Productivity of a Short Shifter

C's no longer make them, hence the difficulty locating them.

I actually hand made one, it's sitting in my garage, not had a chance to test it. Cut & welded up an existing shifter & got a bunch of 10mm spacers to bolt the assembly too.

Pretty sure that's what VipFTO did, hoping to get it done to mine soon

Sort of... not quite that high. I used 12mm spacers.

Here's some pics. First is the C's shifter I've got in my car, you can see the raise plate thickness there.

2nd are the spacers I used on the welded quick shifter I put in Kaz's car.

FYI, that's the shifter from my race car. I believe but cannot confirm that it's an RPW modified shifter.

If you look closely, it's not simply raised with 1" spacers, the side arm is also modified and the shaft itself has been replaced with a longer modified unit.

Shifter throw 1st to 2nd;
Stock Shifter: 11 to 12cm
C's Shifter: 9cm (Ben can you confirm this with yours)
My Shifter: 7 to 8cm

Spacer height
C's Shifter: 15mm
My Shifter: 25mm (1 inch)

I'll see if I can get a photo of mine later tonight. I had to raise mine a fair bit when I put my short shifter in. Used about 40 or so washers. My short shifter is also adjustable.

How well would you say it works? as good as a C's for instance.

Well Dwayne has a C's and mine has a MUCH shorter throw than his. I can take a video of the throw tonight if you like.

I would say it reduces the throw by about 40-50%.

Gear changes require more effort though. But that will happen with any short shifter.

I have mine set on the shortest setting.
