there's a 4 cyl version alright. in this circumstance, i wish i bought one of them instead! couldnt be that hard to change engine and gearbox mounts to 4G setup from 6A12 if they were built with these motors (or the base units at least) in them anyway. just leave it front wheel drive. then it can be a GS 'R' FTO. geddit?!

Muman, i do agree with you the look of the fto you would think it is a european exotic sports car (so many ppl walked passed my car when it was red and said is that a 4RE (ferrari) and i know a lot of other fto owners who have said the same thing). Mitsubshi did f&*k up (IMO), it should of been RWD, it should of been turbo'ed (or supercharged).
But sadly it wasnt
So there are only two thing you can do
1. Sell the car and buy something with the kw you want but may not look as good eg skyline ( BTW MR2 F&*ken rock)
2. Spend a f*(k load on making it what you want, ignoring most of the negative remarks that ppl will post but in the end winding up with they most erotic car ever, but could cost you as much as a 4RE haha

I look at the FTO as a styling car.
It's a great driver car, and not bad for long drives, the fact it can rev to 8krpm and sound like an F1 impresses me.
Yeah, it's not a greatly fast car, and personally my sedan and wagon have way more toque to spin its rims than it does.
But it is a great looking, well balanced ride.
I agree that if you ever wanted power, start with a better platform, EVO, GTO, Galant vr-4 etc.
But mmm, I have admiration for anyone that does highly modify one these cars

I wouldnt say it looks exactly the same, IMO supras look closer to FTO's, know who did that pic ages ago with the supra and the fto flicking from one to other. that showed how close they look

initially i was responding to this post when i said it would be higly unlikely for a 2008 model fto to be made (in regards to the turboing or supercharging an fto, because any newer model fto should have one or the other.)
Im not a doctor but i think thats 3 words haaha jk
with that i was asking if manofwood read my entire previous post or just the first 2 words "highly unlikely", because he replied "whats highly unlikely"
sorry if i have confused everyone, hope this attempt to clear up what i was trying to say worked.

and secondly i know what you were saying with your post towards manofwood. i was making a joke cause you said 2 words when "WHATS HIGHLY UNLIKELY" is 3 words

yea...i understand whats going on now !

...i was trying to say if there ever was to be a 2008 model fto it should be turboed or supercharged, to go with your initial idea of it being turbo or supercharged from the start.

Just a word on the GS. My current understanding (which could be wrong) is under the current ADR's they cant be complied. Has this changed???

Dstocks - pretty sure there is a guy in WA (or maybe it's SA?) who is cruising around in a GS. He posted up engine bay pics IIRC.
Muman et. all - has no-one ever stopped and thought about the fact that the FTO won car of the year in Japan? Lol doesn't that perhaps suggest that Mitsu didn't in fact get anything wrong at all? It seems you're all forgetting the fact that this car was designed AT LEAST 13 years ago, at which point in time it kicked ass. Sure, it wasn't as quick as an R32 or early Supra but it was never meant to either!

WE KNOW IT WASNT EVER MEANT TO BE AND WE ARE SAYING THAT IS A SHAME THAT I WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE
Dude and you forgot about the other 300 cars (slight exageration) that were more powerful than it. Car of the year doesnt mean sh*t, look they give that to commodores all the time.... enough said haha

FTO's rock my socks! A bug-eyed WRX couldnt even hold the pace against Bennoz and myself at wakefield FFS!
FTO's are awesome, leave them alone or someone's going to get stabbed with a soldering iron! End of whinge, and hopefully end of negging the Fresh Tourer!

Yeah I think it may have been imported under the old scheme though, I don't think GS's have enough power to weight to be eligible under the new scheme?
