it's not actually paint, it's a special spray called 'nightshade' designed espesially for tinting lights. Can get it from most Auto shops i believe.

Need to be able to see the reflectors and all lights with no trouble.

arr that sucks mate.. how much was the fine?
I reckon its bullshit anyways.. if its just a sticker over the lense they should be satisfied with you just peeling it off on the spot & let you just go home..

Anyways.. i'm hoping that what I'm doing to my spare set of rear lights isn't going to be picked up by the cops .. not that I go anywhere that they're likely to be picking on my car.. but meh..

they're Project F tailights, just with a black border. the border looks pretty small so you might get away with it (but i wouldn't risk it)

I wish i had Project F's

I've never heard about anyone being defected for project F's .. seriously ... a cops just gonna think its a set of Altezza's or something, they don't know the first thing about FTO's .. they'll only notice if its obvious that its had a sticker put on it or is tinted..

even though sam wouldnt be able to get his lights certified, the idea he had with the black around the borderm, i would doubt any cop would book him for that

it wouldn't have attracted as much (if any) attention from the cops if it had been painted from the inside of the lense casing..
Doesn't help that Sams into the car scene & goes out a couple time a week where the cops are out to pick on people..

I had my lights tinted all over years ago and never got defected. I just used to sh*t myself every time my Missus came to pick me up and some arsehole would almost run into the back her. That's when I decided to do the reverse DB style, been like that for over three years now and still no defects ' but more importantly no rear enders. The Nightshade does discolour after a while though so the third time I altered them, I faded it so that it is darker aroud the edges than in the centre (easy to do just lightly sand and then cut and polish, which also gives a nice glossy finish instead of the matt look. Next time I,m going to stage them i.e.the reverse DB with progressivly thicker lines of black until it becomes solid colour.

How would the reverse DB9 style look on a white car with the stock lights?

EDIT: Is nightshade removable?

Removing Niteshade

Oh yes it is very easily removed with very fine grade sand paper (wet & dry) and then a good cut and polish brings em up like new.
