Thats cool. What I might do is get you to somehow get them to my Brisbane Fujitsu office & I'll sort it from there... we'll work that out when the time comes :)

I started this thread last August ( 8O ) as a sort of personal diary thing to keep everyone updated on the build of my engine

after waiting a ridiculously long time (almost 6 months) to get my engine done it is now in need of piston rings before i can get it put in, (i get the feeling the mechanics are putting it off).

and sourcing the rings is working out tougher then i first thought.

>> See this thread to assist me in finding piston rings <<

as far as i know the rings are the last components needed to complete the engine reconstruction. (hopefully :? )

anyway i will keep updating as construction progresses.

BTW Bennoz, are you still in need of those heads and manifold. (been so long i actually forgot)

i've now decided to get my heads and manifold ported while i'm waiting for the piston rings to get here and i'm going to try and find somewhere to polish the manifold to a mirror finish 8)

So here's the list of what it will have when done.

reconditioned heads - ported
manifold - ported
new piston rings
all new fluids, gaskets, filters.
Exedy Heavy duty Spots tuff clutch
2.5" custom mandrel bent exhaust with high flow metal cat and dual 4" canons (already installed)
RPW Extractors
RPW rally spec short shift Kit
APEXI S-AFC

and i'm still in the prcess of getting my air intake sorted but it will hopefully be done by the time it gets to the tuner :D

after the engine is all done i will be taking it to get dyno tuned.

i'm guessing it will probrably be about a month or so before it's all complete.

Nice 8)

Dont f*ck around with the S-AFC thou... you can get an Emanage for almost the same money, plus the 10 or so odd kws it'll give you....

I wouldn't say same money...

Emanage and harness is 400+ and installation and tuning is more expensive...
Safc is less than 200 off ebay lol and install and tune would br bit under $200.

Ok, it's not a BIG difference but when you're a uni student, every dollar counts!

Safc2 worked out better for me anyways. Allowed me to change the top end of my power curve so it was near the same angle as my midrange (i.e. a more linear/predictable power curve).
Though i suppose you can always use emanage to just do top end but that becomes a bit of a waste.

Progress Report:

i picked up my engine heads and the manifold today and took them to the enigineers to get the porting done. I'm porting both the intake inlet and the exhaust outlet and the manifold split piece. while they're getting done i'm going to have a go at polishing the manifold.

I have also decided to forget about the install of an S-AFC. i have decided to upgrade to a greddy e-manage ultimate 8)

thought id dig this post from the grave to give another progress report.

good news: after being fart assed around for the past 8 months i can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

bad news: need new pistons, another expense to add to the list.

so basically the mechanic (hopefully if he remembered) order me 6 new pistons, new piston rings and a big end bearing today. they should be here within the next 3 weeks or so and as soon as they get here it will be full steam ahead.

so it's gone form a simple "replace the engine" to "complete engine rebuild and upgrade"

updated list of new engines components:

Reconditioned heads - ported
Manifold - ported
New pistons
New piston rings
NGK iridium spark plugs - all round
All new gaskets and filters
New timing belt
New head bolts
Custom Air intake with K&N Pod filter and new CAI
Exedy Heavy duty 'Sports Tuff' clutch
2.5" custom mandrel bent exhaust with high flow metal cat and dual 4" canons (already installed)
RPW Extractors
RPW rally spec short shift Kit
Greddy E-manage Ultimate piggybck ECU

Geez mate 8 months is a fair wait 8O. At least by the end of this all you won't have to worry about a thing and have a real nicely worked FTO. Sourcing parts for imports, especially our cars, can be a real bitch sometimes. That fact alone already has me contemplating an engine swap :? . Anyways best of luck with this and hopefully you'll be on the road soon!

well i thik im getting somewhere with this...........(hopefully)

the pistons, rings and big end bearing were ordered a few weks ago from Japan and upon calling them mechanic 2 days later was told that the pisons were on a 4 week back-order and i had to wait.

everything is set to arive on the 30th June and as soon as hte mechanic gets them, the block will be sent to the engineers to be re-8ored.

so (figers crossed) i'm thinking that it should be done by early to mid July.

well i'm back from my 2 month absence and whist i was away something long awaited and very much overdue happened to my car.

IT GOT THE NEW ENGINE IN !!!!!! yayz \(^_^)/

yes it finally went in sometime about a month ago and then the running in progress started. went to Thailand for 2 weeks so thats why its taking ages.

had to build up 1000 km's in the new engine (which i finally hit today) and then goes back in for the service which will include re-tightening the head bolts, and tappet adjustment along with some other random things.

Exhaust is now even louder with the extracors fitted and i can feel the difference in power with all the additions i made to the engine.

all in all the change over has been a success even if it took a year.

just dont ask me how much it cost. *moth flies out of wallet*

It would have killed me if I had ended up waiting that long for it all to come together.

And the all important question - Was it worth the wait.....

Did you get the e-manage installed?
