I can vouch for the Direzza DZ101's. Been using them for a while now and they're usable even on the track. Semi's are on a totally different level of course, but if you want a street tyre that doesn't require warming up to use, and is good in the wet, and that you can take to the track and not look stupid, the DZ101's are a good choice.

I think they have been superceded by the Direzza Z1's though, which are supposed to be even better.

Ok, from my experience if you want one of the best handling tyres for a not too high amount of money then you need to get the Falken Azenis RT615's. The tyre is a semi-slick tyre, but it is street legal and is not extreme like the Bridgstone semi-slick.

I can compare the Falken one to two other tyres that i have had in the past, the Toyo Proxis T1-R and the GIII. The GIII in my mind is way on the bottom, the Toyo tyre is pretty good. After the Toyo I upgraded to the Falkens and the difference in grip was amazing, and i can say that the grip in the wet was also better, as like i said they are not extreme semi-slick tyres. Also the Falkens were roughly the same price per tyre compared to the Toyo's.

Ok, now comes the big question, durability. I bought my RT215's about the end of January last year for my front tyres, I have done two full day track days at Wakefield on them, and I have also been driving one them daily, so maybe put on 15,000+km's (not sure) onto them and they are still about 15% atm.

Considering I am using the older ones the RT215's not the new ones the RT615's which Falken claims are much better performance and durability and more designed to keep in mind general road use, I defenetly know that my next tyre will be the RT615's.

Yep, Falken Azenis RT615's




From experience, my RT215's handles better in the wet then my Toyo Proxes T1R's which are renowned for their wet handling...

The thing is, in the wet you just may need to give the Azenis a minute to get up to operating temperature before pushing it hard, but that is like any other tyre.
