Tools required are a pair of pliers, a couple of screwdrivers (to pry of the old rings) cable ties, some cutters to trim down the cable ties and some wire which you can buy at bunnings

bent circlip pliers ( opening out type ) make it much easier for opening the old wire rings up instead of two screwdrivers.
You just poke the pointy end of the circlip pliers into the wire ring and squeeze the pliers together and it opens them up allowing for easy removal.
mmm could say more but i am sure someone else will

hey, i rang the supplier and she said the price they quoted the lady who rang about this group buy is 5,000pesos per set.... which still works out around $120AUD... and extra material is 350pesos per sqm, which is $10... been getting PM's about the $150 price tag that i decided to ring the supplier...
so mxysxy check with your friend, tell her that's the price we got quoted... $150 is still pretty cheap though imo

Whats going on here?
hmmm,
I wish this information was pm'ed to me only. At the end, it is creating public confusion then anything else. At least, I am confused.
It looks like the contact in Manila is making little more many then he should be, on top of that what he is going to get paid already.

I dont think I will do anything for this situation guys. If I say "You are pocketing money from us!" to the contact, we will loose the contact and the group buy. At the end, we need somebody to check the orders and post at least 120kg of seat covers to Melbourne.
Conclusion;
This is the best I could for this group buy and price will not be changed. If anybody can do better please let me know, i will pm all order details I have organised up till now.
In fact, $225 is not allowing any additional cost may occur. So, as the previous group buy, we might have to add another $5 on top to finalise as $230.
Any unused money will be either send to a charity account or will be used for meat/supply for a Melbourne cruise.
Now, hope everything is clear, and if I dont hear anybody else to organise this group buy at the end of today, I will be pm'ing my account details to buyers.

well i just thought i'd let everyone know thats why i posted this...
ive dealt with the supplier before and they were well trusted... just want to let everyone know that they did not hike up the price just because they know their product's in demand overseas...
plus you did mention 'no profit' was being made, i understand it's your contact who added some extra cost without letting you know...
and like i said, $150 is still a good price... plus people are prepared to pay $230 anyways so it shouldnt cause any issues...

I can say i am disapointed
44sq meters of material at an extra $5 = $220
26 sets of covers at an extra $30 = $780
so he/her is making an extra $1000
then we pay him/her $15 a set for him to make some money for the work he did $390
personally i think he should have one or the other i don't have a problem with someone being paid for there efforts, but i think your contact is being greedy and should settle for either putting a bit on the top ( $1000 ) or what we were going to pay ($390 ) not both. I know $15 extra each is not a lot but the principle of it, he is double dipping.

After carefull consideration i am cancelling my order
the fact that you feel you cant trust your contact enough to be able to say something to him about his doubble dipping, worrys me. I get the impression that you would be sending the money to him for him to pay for the covers and material, ($4560) ?
How well do you know this contact ?

It looks like he is dipping into the seatcovers but not the extra material.
$15 extra material per sqm = $10 material cost + postage + customs + etc...

I think $225 is bloody cheap anyway. I'm more worried about the quality of the material than $30 here or there. I would be more disapointed if the covers ended up feeling like vinyl.
So I think we should really put this in perspective. sure the contact may be making a killing out of us ... so what, were making a killing out of them too.
Can anyone honestly say they can get this done in australia for a price even remotely close?

I agree the price is still good
how well do you know your contact in the Phillipines and can you trust him not to run off with the money
He has already lied to you about the price of the seat covers

Contact is a good friend of a good friend of mine from work. My friend at work is from Philipphines and he is trustworthy, so the contact is from Manila.
The contact works for import/export company in Manila, thats why we get a cheap shipping cost.
However, I have never met, nor talked with this person, neither I can talk Philipeno.

Thats right. First %20 deposit to give the supplier. Then the rest when orders completed.
There is definately risk involves in this process everybody is already aware of. We are from Australia, supplier in Manila, plus communication barriers and need to check the quality. Perhaps, this is the reason I mentioned in the terms and conditions that I am not responsible of anything goes wrong during the process.

mxysxy i hope i have not offended you by asking these questions.
but i felt someone had to ask them.
when discrepencies arise in a situation like this it is best to get everything out in the open so people can make an informed decision.

No offence taken as none of the questions/comments above tells anything negative about me.
I have spent many hours to help the club for this group buy. And happy to do it, without any financial aid.
Since i put my name down to organise this group buy, do I think everynight "What if something goes wrong, what do I say to these people?"
Hell yehh. So, also I feel the stress of this process as well.
Please ask as many questions as possible to outline the process.
Maybe, we should take it easy for a while to see what other alternatives we might come up with.
Any suggestions?

can we order it through the factory directly??
thats a safe option.

you would be hard pressed to get a better shipping rate, the main thing is you need to know that you can trust each point of the transaction process.
We know the supplier does a good job and is reputable.
I don't think that there would to many in the group buy who would want to wait.
personally I would be inclined to mention to him about the double dipping and renegotiate his rate $15 up but lower the cost of the covers to the actual price paid. As he tried to cheat he should also take a cut on what he originally was going to make in the combined total. originally he was going to make $30 + $15 per set. total $45 i think he should lower that total.
And get him to put the true cost of the covers and material on the bill of lading so as to not have to pay extra duty and taxes when they arrive in Australia
what do you think?

i think that if i can get covers for my front and back seats + extra material for less than say $270 or wateva.
and the organiser is well known.
and the organiser can reatch contact.
and the supplier is well known.
then i say full steam ahead. i doubt there will be anywhere in australia who will be that price.. if there is, it'll be a very hard job finding them.
and sure theres a risk, but theres a risk in every group buy,
so keep up the good job mxy and lets get us some seat covers =]
