Did you clean the gear set before installing it?
Seems like the gears picked up a fair amount of debris

Na left em filthy haha.

Cleaned gears inside of box everything. Once seal arrives can fill up and get it out of my garage then back to my own car

Was it difficult working on the gearbox?

Easy once realized crown wheel was issue. But actually working on box is simple. Some of the snap rings can be a pain but as long as you have press and right tooling no issues

Was there something wrong with the Cusco LSD? Worn out or something?

What Tim said. It performed best at speed, and for a daily driver, having it quite violently snap/clunk at low speed was more than a little annoying. Wouldn't be surprised if it was putting undue stress on other components.

Or not.

Tim continues to be amazing and car is on the road! :D keeping an eye on coolant and stuff but it's looking alright. Wheel alignment tomorrow cause it's all over the shop. Brake pedal feel with new booster is much improved, and consistent. Have to take it easy for a while but still good to be driving it again.

Wavetrac is sooo smooooth. Heaven compared to the Cusco, can barely notice it's there.

Have you tried putting one wheel on grass and the other on tarmac and doing a launch with the wavetrac? Bennoz said it locks up and works quite well.

Those 1.5 way LSDs do cause stress on other parts. I've read they ruin engine/transmission mounts and driveshafts prematurely.
The clunk really is annoying; acceptable only for dedicated race cars

No launching as of yet. Not sure where I'd find to do it either, let alone I'm not super experienced driving stick. Will certainly update more once alignment done and has had time to settle in.

Yeah, engine mounts were stuffed actually, those have been replaced now as well.

HOW TO FTO - A QUICK GUIDE:
1. Acquire one working FTO.
2. Acquire a second working FTO.
3. Starter motor in first FTO dies; no matter, you have another one!
4. Starter motor in second FTO dies; no matter, the first is fixed* now!
5. Purchase all the starter motors in existence.

*fixed with Tim's starter motor

Jaz did that to mine...

Her starter died in krispy kreme carpark..

Pulled starter out of my car, which was brand new.

Swapped starters in krispy kreme car park..

Put old spare starter we bought in my car in mean time..

She had a prang and sent her car to wreckers with my brand new starter in it..

Daniel is now stuck with old sh*t starter thats about to die :(

Aha, ahh what a shame. Go nick it back.

Bit of a pain that I have to get one for both cars now. I was just going to put the one in the white car on the silver so I could keep a new one, but now it looks like they both get one. Found one on ebay for $171.00 though, so grabbed two of those. 5 year warranty which I'll definitely be taking advantage of cause there's no way it will last that long.

Found a good deal on eBay, so threw caution to the wind and grabbed some DBA T3 rotors for the future Evo V brake set-up. Hoping they might hold said Evo gear for me with a deposit, but if not I have the money spare anyway, and I can replenish when I sell on the STi calipers and also the silver car (hopefully within the next couple months).

Taking advantage of end of year sales and organising it now. :D with savings will be able to reco the calipers and probably get them freshened up too. For anyone else with money to splash around head over to Evolution Racing Spares.

I tried to steal it back but they had pulled the engine and box (including starter) out of the car by the time I got there.

So if someone buys a new starter from there please give it back

Paid for the Evo V suspension bits today. $1150 delivered! Hopefully they're ready to post tomorrow and can get that under-way.

With the Evo LCAs and GPvR subframe, might have to put Whiteline sway bar on the stiffest setting to account for the front.
