Meanwhile Ben.... I dunno..
Your choice what you want the car to do, but mmmm *shrug*
Could give you a lot of reasons not to rebuild your motor... especially if you still want to go turbo later.

Re: Lawso's project thread
Well, I spose this is my thread now... better update it
Car is currently round at mine for a major 'fix everything' service.
Apart from the hideous body work & interior abominations, the car is in not tooooo bad a shape mechanically.
Everyone thought it had a blown head gasket, but it doesn't. Just a couple of shot rubber pipes.
Brakes are farked too, but I'll strip them down & sort it.
So I stripped it down this arvo, couple of pics as such.
As far as im concerned, this is what it needs:
- timing belt
- associated timing belt tensioner & idler
- Full set of cam seals, both ends & crank main seal (timing belt end)
- rocker & spark plug gaskets
- hydraulic tappets reco
- radiator & heater hose replacement
- seal up thermostat housing properly (goo)
- replace coolant refill tower with fucked overflow (rusted) pipe and goo
- lower engine mounts (super farked)
- thorough clean of throttle body & plenum
- fix seized handbrake cable, reco all calipers, bleed system
- replace fuel filter
On top of that, am gonna do a few performance mods
- new intake pipe (GR style) with Monza pipe & MAF relocation & pod filter
- 'track day' cat lol
- new collector pipe (Y pipe) connecting manifolds to cat back
Apart from that, its not in that bad a nick (for a 3 grand FTO)
Here's the lower engine mounts. There are 2 major problems with this, see if you can pick what they are - 1 is quite obvious LOL
I'll give a 6 pack to whoever can pick both issues....

As she lies tonight

The left mount is on the wrong way around, which is not the way it was designed to efficiently absorb the torque twist?Bennoz wrote:Nope! Its a tip, hence the non solid mounts.
