There's a whole bunch of cool clutches to pick from. You can use anything from the Evo III range.

I used the Evo III HD when I did the 6A13 conversion. Its all the same 225mm units.

That's the one I have now.
My mates at Works Engineering do a clutch, 5 paddle type, Pro400 series for the sprung disc or Pro500 for solid.
The 500 would be good for pure track car, so I gonna price the 400 series.

Ben, whilst you're online...
I know that pulley wasn't suitable, but did it actually bolt on?
I have to custom mount alternator anyways, so may work for me, but only if it fits up.

Hey Clint, just had a read through your whole thread, liking how this is coming along :thumleft:

Couple of questions/suggestions for you;

Have you looked at running an electric water pump? Relatively easy low cost mod and theoretically should free up the engine a little especially in the upper rpm range. I've run electric on both my current FTO racecar and previous Supra racecar. Works well. Key thing is you need to understand the cold and hot water flow paths in your engine to get it right.

What are you doing for power steering? Again I'm looking to go electric on the FTO racecar, mainly to allow the removal of some pretty heavy mounting gear on the side of the engine, but also for one less belt to worry about, and I can then look for a lightweight single drive crankshaft pulley.

Thoughts?

No power steering on Elise.
Only belt will be alternator.
Elec water pump, pm me your mobile number, will arrange to call in for a look and a chat.

So all you need is a lightweight single drive 4 row pulley that fits on your crank, then mount the alternator to suit.

(re previous posts re pulley options)

Clint did you end up having to modify the adjustable cam gears at all?

Re belt/pulley, yep. Custom mount alt to suit pulley. Looking at the works one.
Cam gears, had a look few days back, I do believe the timing disc is wrong, will need mods to sort.
I have cams/gears coming to help. ( stock ones)

Just a note, I had a closer look at the crank pulley on my spare engine today. It is a damper/harmonic balancer type pulley. The outer pulley is separated from the inner section by a rubber damper ring. It is also weight balanced.

So I don't know that it would be a good idea putting a lightweight, solid one piece pulley on our engines.

Oh and the stock one weighs 2.2kg.

Aha. Mine does not appear to be a balancer.
If it is, and swapping to a solid light unit would have side effects/detrimental results, what could one expect those result to be?

Have a closer look, there is a rubber ring between the main body and the outer pulley (AC/PS pulley).

Worse case scenario, crankshaft failure 8O

The FTO ones are a balancer unit.

little project still kicking along, just slowly..
I have custom drive shafts..
I have just collected my fabricated gear linkage mounts, and will be fitting and measuring for linkages tomorrow..
Been held up by people who are doing custom fabrication jobs for me taking their time.
Quote a week, take 4..
Quote 3 weeks, that was in Sept/Oct, still waiting..

My mil spec motor sport wiring plugs are on their way.
Flywheel has been ordered from rpw, awaiting order confirmation..

Will see what I can arrange in the way of a couple interesting pics in the next day or two..
