Re: Lawso's project thread
car was overheating on thursday night, all the way to the nice red dot on the temperature guague.
replaced the thermoststat today thinking it wasn't opening after the car warmed up. but apparently the radiator is blocked.
protip: boiling coolant smells like sh*t
taking her to a radiator shop on monday to HOPEFULLY just flush her out and keep the engine nice and cool.

yeah, make sure you never drive while it sits so high on the temp gauge. Please don't say you drove it home in that condition.I8A4RE wrote:Hope your kidding. Re: Lawso's project thread
if we didnt have so many issues with the brakes, we could have removed the radiator that day.
That was the other possibility, given your lower hose.
Meanwhile, definitely try to get an auto lower hose, that manual one isnt the best to keep there.

Re: Lawso's project thread
honestly you may as well buy a new hose.
The top piece however you would need to get through Dwayne.
Have much difficulty replacing the thermo by the way?
Doubt my sms instructions would have been the best...

Re: Lawso's project thread
heres a tip, if the car starts heating up, pull over and KEEP IT RUNNING! with the engine running at idle the cooling system is doing its job best, if its still heading up youve got a block and you shut it down...
you waited too long...
head gaskets arent a huge job, just a pain in the butt!
make sure you buy some new tappets while your at it, and make sure you get the full kit with all the cam and oil seals, not just the head gasket.

Re: Lawso's project thread
yeah... we ran the radiator flush through it today... it got up to temp in the driveway and just sat there for about 30mins before we turned it off to drain the thing.
problem: it had already decided to begin the draining process with nothing having been taken off. the brand new oil is a murky brown and the liquid on the floor was a vibrant green... yeah, not cool...

Re: Lawso's project thread
As to your 2 motors.... umm, why?lawsochap wrote: • GPX twin piston front brake setup DONE
• engine rebuild+ turbo (port polish, forged pistons etc) (for my gr motor)
• new motor (mivec)
And where you going to put the 2nd?
Problem is, if you go MIVEC... why wouldn't you, then you are going to have to hack the gr loom up from the car, making it a pig to go back to that loom later... or even something equivalent for A/M.
If you want my 2c, why not just go an HKS setup, and get a low blow turbo with extra injector and controller... proven to work, and you'd have best of both worlds... otherwise you're spending money on 2 motors, and it will be a while before you could even utilise the turbo setup anyway...

Re: Lawso's project thread
oops... my bad
edited.
had the thought of going mivec, keeping gr motor then going gr-t, but yeh too much trouble. in the short term i'll rebuild my current motor, and get it mechanically sound before fixing everything up and considering turbo conversion
