really need help?

Post by GoldFTO »

i have took my car to the mechanic and i they told me that my front seal on my gear box went which i new but had to see what other damage was done!

i am wondering if anyone has a front seal cover/thrust bearing snout he told me its called both but some people call it 1 or the other?

also does anyone have any idea on where i can buy a front gearbox seal and a clutch kit for my FTO?

and also what clutch would be best to install?

I cant help you with the seals im afraid but i too have a problem with the object of my affection.
My 1995 GPX developed a nasty oil leak which turns out to be from the rear cam box, that means no Gaskets, just sealer :( She has been in the shop all week and my Mechanic is trying to tell me to sell it as the water filter is now weepin, when my cam belt was replaced (Different mechanic) they did not do the barings so they need doing. All cam shaft seals to be replaced and while i am at it the Gaskets :(

So should i sell the dying warhorse or pay the $four K's to get it fixed and hope it doesnt start leaking from the head gasket?
What should i do?

find a cheaper mechanic..... cam carrier reseal is a big job but even with the other stuff (water pump is a sealent job again) including replacing the pulleys. Ok I'm converting UK prices to Oz here but going off what I'd charge you should be well under $1k Sounds to me like your mechanic just doesnt want to do the cam carrier seal as its a b***h to get right.
