asap... custom dial backing

im trying to create my own custom dial backing but i cant seem to dismantle it so i can scan the stock ones... i've got to the point were im holding the speedo in my hand and i cant get the dial off because the needle is in the way..... do i have to somehow take the needle off? is there a way to do it? how? can someone help me please asap.. thanks heaps guys

hi mate

u can take the needles off by popping them but u will screw up the tacho and speedo and the rest for that matter. if u want to do it, turn on the car, let it run to operating temp and take a photo of the needle positions as a refernce.

Pop the needles...take off the guage backing...do your stuff and put it all back.

when u put it back, you will need to run the car again for the same amount of time and place the needels back on in the desired position...now if your Tacho and Speedo are fruited...then I take no responsibilioty but there is a good chance they will work fine.

Option 2. cut off the dials -- will be easier and less hassle

omg taking the needles out....

i can remember a few years ago trying to pin the needle back in as i'm driving at a fixed speed (rsm helped me there heaps wtih knowing how fast i was going)....

i'll probably still have a set lying around (originals) if you want them pm me with an offer

i've done it before....but yeah a RSM helps heaps and will get it nice and accurate
