Hi Guys
on a cold start i.e. the morning when i start my car I get this wierd "tap" or hitting noise from the front right hand side of the car...and no its not the tappets incase anyone is thinking that.
it lasts for about 5 seconds and goes away. So my assumption is that is a moving part that needs some lurication and it gets it once the engine is moving.
I can't work out where it is comming from...front right hand side what is there?? water pump/oil pump? it seems under where you check the tip transmission fluid levels and directly behind the radiator on the right hand side. (i.e opp. side to where the pullys are)
I'm pretty sure it shouldnt be making that noise..and it only does it only does it on a cold start or when u have left your car for over 4 hours which indicates some kind of fluid drain/lubrication.
kind of a wierd one.
Chris.
Cold start noise...trying to work out what it is

you sure its not the lifters? Other than that something internals wrong with your auto, or something wrong internally!
Well your ISC can make a bit of a noise when starting up!
Water and oil pump is on the pulley ends so it cant be that!
Coudl be your oil pump and something griding in your auto! Put a screw driver onto say the auto or where you think the noise is coming from then your ear to the handle side you usually can sorch down where the noise is coming from.

get someone to start it up for you. there is only one thing in that area and its your auto. If its a more choofing type noise like a warped rotor, then i can safely say its to do with your torque convertor.
Around that area of engine usually means money!
Check your uni joint out and see if its damaged could be that.

if it was those things then i would expect it to be more constant...in fact this noise has only come since the weather has been colder.payaya wrote:get someone to start it up for you. there is only one thing in that area and its your auto.
