Replacing crankshaft oil seal (g/box side)

Post by Storm »

Has anyone replaced the crank shaft oil seal on the gearbox end? I am going to do it this weekend and am ready to drop the 'box, etc but is there a need to remove the sump? (Mainly because I will be resting the engine on it when I drop the g/box!)

Any help gratefully received.

from memory i dont think you need to remove the sump, it is a bitch of a job to do and thats what i was resting my engine on, but it would be easier to remove it and hoist the engine (obviously not always easy for some people) i reccomend you check the workshop manual (mines with my car and im not with my car!)
