Radiator/coolant

Post by gus »

Hey all, hope you guys can help.

I just had to top up my radiator with coolant as i noticed the car was starting to overheat today :( . Last time i checked it would have been about 2 or 3 months ago (I know im an idiot). It was full up then but i had to put maybe 1 or 2 litres of coolant in today.

Should i be worried about a crack in the radiator or leaking pipework?

Also what kind of coolant should i be putting in? The car is due in for a service in 2-300 k's so i will probably get the mechanic to look at it then, though should i be doing anything now? I'll definately be keeping an eye on the coolant levels over the next couple of weeks (everyday).

Cheers

if you have a leak you'll either notice it on the ground or once residue over your engine. Top it up replace your thermostat and see what happens from there.
