Splash Shields

Post by Spud »

I'm looking to replace my front splash shields. I think thats what they are called. The guard that sits on the inside of the wheel arch to stop the tyres flicking water, dirt, stones etc. into the front end of the car.

There is a gaping big hole in my front left part. I can see the window washer bottle and everything. The right sided doesn't look too good either. Doesn't look like its being held up by much.

Any idea where I can get some more?

Cool will do. Although it may not be till I get back from Europe which won't be till' mid July.

I'll ring and at least find out what I can over the phone. Are there part no.s for these things? I think there are two different kinds for the FTO. Correct me if I am wrong.

If you guys are interested I've actually made some hack ones that look pretty good out of plastic but they also fell apart.

I know where I went wrong now though so I'm gonna give it another go soon. If you guys want I can do some sorta DIY for you soon. Probably this weekend.

Nacho that sounds fantastic! I was wondering about DIY or if there were third party mobs making this sort of this. It can't be that complicated yeh?

Have a go for sure and let me know what the costs are and stuff.

Cheers 8)

Just had a closer look at my front end, it appears only a piece or a part is missing (in front of the tyre). Is this piece the actual Splash Shield itself or is the there one big piece that goes right around shielding the entire tyre?

Well all I got was a pointy end screwdriver, poked holes in the existing guard and cut a sheet of plastic pocket and sewed them over the hole with shoelaces. Then you paint it black with any paint you want.

Kinda like patching a pair of jeans. My next problem is that if the guard has been rubbed to death, who's to say it won't happen again.

So my plans now are to drill holes closer to the front of the vehicle and attach the guards further away from the tyre so they won't get rubbed to death.
