Advice on SAFC vs Emanage vs New Apex'i Neo

Post by mcgal »

Hey

I am planning to get some advice to tune my engine up as soon as I fit my mods. (FTO GPX Manual)

I will have Extractors, Intake, Catback, High flow cat and I think a Fuel Pressure Regulator.

Can someone tell me do you need a FPR if you get one of the above Air/Fuel management systems??

I have heard that on Stock internals that changing when the car switches to the aggressive cam can be harmful leading me towards just an SAFCII.
What do you suggest the best Bang for your buck computer you can get to "safely" tune your FTO

Cheers

I think with a piggyback you wont need a FPR but it would be good to have, so that fuel pressure is higher and throttle response is better.

I am using, and recommend a greddy e-manage. It's quite powerfull for a piggyback and you can do anything you'll need to do with it, unless you are building a race engine.

Changing MIVEC point wont do damage at all... unless you set it at a very high rpm then maybe, but of course that would be a stupid thing to do...

and emanage will not cost much more than a good SAFC...so I went eh emanage but didn't put it in my FTO in the end. Expect to pay 1000 for buying, fitting and tuning the emanage. THere are other options such as Unichip.

Spetz what mods have you got and what KW are you producing ? I got 108kw at the wheels with a high cat, extrators, UAS CAI, RPW TB/Manifold and FPR. Tund by an Emanage.

Not happy with the KW but got a lot of torque pics of the dyno sheets are on this forum in ths section somewhere ...

I had 112.4kw atw with just pod filter, stock magna cat, and 2.5" exhaust

The e-manage isn't tuned, as I am putting more mods/different engine in so I'll tune it with them

108kw is quite low. What gear is that in? And is it manual?

mine is in 3rd, manual

Mines a tip and was done in 2nd, i dont know if you saw the dyno sheets but the torque gain was good but kw are still low. Although you do get diefferent figures on different dynos etc

To be honest I do think the dyno I got mine done on did read a bit high.

But, I'll take it back onto that dyno to see the differences I think. To compare before and after

108kw in 2nd though seems extremely low. How does the car perform? And against other FTO's?

well thats the thing ive never driven another or against an FTO so i dont know how it compares. I do know it has heaps of torque in second and after about 4000rpm in third the same again.

Did you have a look at the dyno sheets in this section ? The torque differance is pretty good i thought.

with high flow cat + muffler + UAS CAI I got 107...then and expected 112 with the emanage...although i never did it but base don the AFR it would have given me some extra Kw.

Noticed that you mentioned the Neo mcgal - no real gain using that over an SAFC2. The Neo does not currently support MIVEC control so you're essentially paying for a colour screen.

For all those using the e-manage, did you guys get the harness to alter ingition timing too?

NEO

Post by mcgal »

I was under the impression that the NEO was a VAFCII and SAFCII in one meaning that it can control air/fuel and alter Mivec levels also?

Can someone confirm this for me??

You need the Mivec adaptor in order for the VAFC & VAFCII to work. So AFC Neo has to have a Mivec adaptor as well. Which I guess it’s not available yet.

NEO

Post by mcgal »

DId that mean in the past if you wanted to use a VAFC on your MIVEC engine you need some form of "Mivec adapter"?

I thought that they were universal.

Oh well maybe have to give the NEO a miss then.
