Off the Shelf Mods

Post by mcgal »

Hey Guys I am getting my 95 5spd Mivec GPX delivered on Wednesday and am itching to start modding.

1. I am looking at getting an "off the shelf" CAI and have noticed there is only reallt RPW products. I dont want a pod in the engine bay as I would prefer a full CAI.
Is there any other good ones out there for the FTO?
If not, is the RPW one difficult to fit? Does it require cutting??

2. I am looking at a full "Mongoose Twin tip" exhaust from engine back from the UK? ANyone know of these and how good they are. I have heard a clip of one and it sounded fantastic.

ANy advice woud be helpful

Cheers

If you don't want a pod filter, grab a K&N replacement panel filter from Autobarn.

It saves you from buying a replacement filter every few months coz Mitsubishi charge heaps for one.

You get a better noise out of it as well but not as good as a pod filter.

The other option you have if you dont want a pod is an ARC box. I have one of these. Perfect Run sell them . and I can say that the sound is awesome.

Cool how much do they sell them for? I really wanted one but last I heard they were like $800.

If you bought the ARC Super Intake Chamber as well, it might set you back that much. But the ARC Box itself is only about $350:

The thing I like about this is that it sounds stock (quiet)........until you put you foot down. Then the aluminium box resonates with the engine to produce a very sweet sound.

BTW, this is an Australian site. For some reason they just list prices in Yen

From what I've read in Fast Fours apparently you get pretty good gains with the induction chamber and airbox. Wonder where you put the filter?
