Wheel Spacers

Post by gus »

The dude that had my car before me had spacers put in to make his 18's fit. before he sold it to me he took the 18's out, put back on the stock wheels with the spacers left in.

Im doin a bit of reseach about gettin some nice rims and one of the dudes i was speaking to said spacers were highly illegal and extremely dangerous.

Should i be worried?

Spacers are illegal.

They increase wheel track, and that is good for handling, but bolt on spacers are potentially unsafe and illegal. (Weld on ones are a bit dubious too).

Take them off, especially if you have stock rims. You don't need them.

If you want to buy a set of aftermarket rims in the future, just make sure they are the correct offset - you won't need spacers at all then.

Quite correct. Spacers are illegal unless equiped by the manufacturer (which they were not by mitsi) I use them thou

Pretty much the same in every state. Just different fancy wording.
