Unichip owners please read ....

Post by barfy »

Hi guys,

Could all you Unichip owners please do me a favour and give me a rough idea what sort of gains you got out of your car with the Unichip installed also the mods you have on your car too would be handy...

I know that all cars are different and gains will vary but i just want it as a rough guide....

Thanks !

I don't think you should be looking at a unichip.
A GReddy seems to be a cheaper choice, and much more powerfull as a piggyback computer

But, as fas as I could say, if you have things like extractors, cat, exhaust, and intake done you could roughly expect up to 10kw gain from a tune

Ok i had a Unichip, but had a problem with the Authorised dealer whos fitting it, so i end up selling it.

As far as i know Greddy isn't more powerfull then the unichip, they both have similar function for a N/A.

With extractors, hi-flowed cat, exhaust, and intake. I would expect more then 10kwatw gain with a piggyback.

As at my last dyno tune was with extractor, intake & exhaust, & with just an Apexi SAFC, i gain 10kwatw at "save tuning" setting.

I think the e-manage has more program points than a Unichip,
Not to mention the extra expandability of an emanage compared to a Unichip.

The later model Unichips have all that wiz bang gear, but I understand the compatibility of them to the FTO is a bit suss - especially Mivecs

The unichip or e-manage wouldn't have anything to do with the variable intake manifold
It will still be governed by the stock ECU, in fact I think no piggyback computer can do anything about this, and even a lot of standalones can't.

To be honest, I think it wouldn't be too hard to build some kit from JayCar to control the variable intake.
