Uh Oh

Car goes under the knife for the second time tomorrow to try and get rid of the rust problem, so taking out the roof lining and sunroof this morning and found another couple of areas where the glue is used If you didnt see the previous thread that covers this go here:

http://www.ftoaustralia.com/modules.php ... light=rust

If you have a sunroof as I do, there is a frame around the inside of the hole (under lining). It seems as though this has glue under it too. problem with this one is that it is a s##tload harder to get out and cant be removed as it is spot welded at the sides.

If you have a 94-95 and especially if you have a sunroof, get rid of the glue before its too late!!!!! (Again, previous thread explains all this)

just as a note, mine doesnt have a sunroof, but still have the same problem... only diffference is the line at the front goes right across instead of being 2 seperate sections like the back.

Yep, thats because the non-sunroof FTO has a groove in the roof and the sunroof one does not. The subframe is the same though, so in mine where the subframe dips in the middle, the gap is too wide for glue.

[edit] Piece of advice - I found a wire brush (the ones that look like a disk that are available from pretty much any hardware store) attached to the end of a drill (the smaller the better) does a great job of cleaning out the loose rust before neutralising (after the glue has been pushed out. If you do this, you can probably get away without removing the subframe (which would be a huge job)[/edit]

[edit2]Have updated the guide to include the new info :D [/edit]
