hi guys,
from my previous experience at track days, i have decided to investigate the option of Oil coolers.
has anyone fitted one or knows of any other oil coolers that will fit 6a12?
i know Greddy make one, but is there any others?

I think the "kits" you can buy are too expensive
I mean, put it this way:
1. Your car hasn't got an oil cooler now, so adding one, even not the best one will still be good (better)
2. The oil through the oil cooler is cooled AFTER it goes through the engine, so pressure drop isn't as bad as you would think
3. The oil cooler should bypass the oil until the oil reaches a certain temp, for example 90 degrees C, and then one the oil drops to say 85 the oil starts bypassing the cooler again.
I am definately putting an oil cooler on my car even though it's not going onto the track. But you can never be too safe with your engine and I think oil can start overheating even on slow driving during the hot months
Anyway, pricewise I was going to buy ebay oil coolers ($90 for the cooler only, decent size) and get it installed by a mechanic (about $100 including the hoses and thermostart thing)

Yeah, oil coolers are not manufacturer specific, they are a very generic thing. You can get them pretty cheap from various suppliers (such as spetz metioned ebay is one place to look) then all you have to get is hoses & connections. You can mount them where ever you like (as long as it gets good air flow.)
I run a 13 row oil cooler on my mini - its a 1.4L motor that regularly runs out to 9000rpm (when its on the road
) and never have an issue. For a 2 litre motor I would be looking at a 16 row or similar. Your oil capacity will increase obviously & when you connect the hoses properly (sealed) the presure should remain the same.

Ideally you want the oil circuit to be a complete loop. Example you want the oil coming from a gallery in the motor that is near the exit of the oil pump. You then want your return from the cooler to enter the block near the beginning of the oil circuit - so the cooled oil can make its way round the motor. There are a number of oil gallery plugs in the FTO block that you could tap into (as you can see below) One of the easy options is run out from the filter adaptor. I'll have a good look over the motor & see which spots are actually suitable. Most manufacturers leave options like this as on some of their engine types as they may wish to run a cooler from the factory - they're also used for pressure fulshing of the system.
The larger round plugs you can see in the pic are welch plugs for the water galleries. Most oil plugs are threaded.
