There is something to be said for staying a basic colour, it's a lot cheaper and heaps easier to fix if anything should go wrong *touch wood*

just curious, for those who did a respray to a different colour, did you do both inside and outside? or just the outside? the last time i was quoted, prices range from 2k to 8k.

If you're respraying in the same colour I wouldn't bother doing an entire sand down of the whole car, just have the outer shell done.

The guy quoted you $2k will mask everything on your car and paint over it. As a result paint will not go into the corners and end of the panels. You will start having chipped paints after a year.
The guy quoted you $8k does not want to do the work.

Make sure you get a proper job. Panels that needs to be resprayed has to be pulled out, sanded a bit, then any marks and dints has to be fixed, and only then paint the whole panel. And get a lifetime warranty. My car is in the whole respraying process at the moment, I have life time warranty against any wrong.

On the other hand, masking is suicidal.

You should be looking at anything between $2,500 to $4000. Anything over and under should not be considered.

thanks for giving the price range. will keep that in mind. $8k was too much. but didnt want a crappy job (i.e. if not done properly). really hard to look for trustworthy panel beaters here these days. lifetime warranty... sounds fantastic!

This s***s me big time....you think the lousy fool could just say "no sorry I don't feel like doing this job"

Part of the reason I have a distrust of mechanics/panel beaters/any auto service.

I've had resprays that have cost +8k in the past.... that was engine out, all panels off, car stripped to nothing. Perhaps that was what he was thinking??
