I've never been defected and I have bright red P plates attached to my car along with the wing, led washer nozzles and an exposed airfilter element. Been RBT'd before and they've looked over the car but never said anything.

that depends on cops! if they wanna f*uck around with you, they can defect every single thing in your car which is not standard, last few months ago, i got 12 defects by cops, last time my friend asked a cop face to face if his gt wing is defected or not, then he said no,
the other day, my fd went to ask another cop, he said yes, so what do u think? as long as u get engineered, then u ll be fine

plus++++, as long as your wing is not wider or higher than your car, u'll have less chance of getting defected...

if from the factory they happened to have a GT wing{eg: R34 Skyline}, then u wanna put a CF Wing or Fibreglass u're maybe allow to get eng cert except the aluminium wing they still cant do it for you. as i said above, try to keep it low, and make sure they wing is not wider than the body, the police or inspector might tolerate, if they still defect u....well bad luck..

I've been looking at some GT wings as well and have been a bit detered bcos of the possibility of being defected.

However, I've came across some GT wings that are made from ABS plastic?

Anybody know anything about this sort of material - is it safe? is it weatherproof (color fade proof)?

I know that there are GT wings that are made from Alu and CF, but ABS plastic?

yup i have come across abs plastic gt wing as well, they r in mid range between aluminium and carbon gt wing. but i dont know anything about the quality and my best bet will be that they r better than aluminium but not carbon. The guy in SRS told me that u r less likely to get defect for abs gt wing than aluminium gt wing since they dont have any sharp edges but again he might say that just to sell me the abs one.
