64 bit 2 core boards with AGP??

Hi ho.

I know there are a couple of ppl here who are pretty up to date on their pc hardware.

I'll shortly be in the market for a dual core 64 bit processor.
Mostly likely an Athlon.

Problem is I am not replacing my n6800 GT gpu, which happens to be AGP.

Can anyone recomend a good main board that can do both.
Everything I've been able to find has PCI-E buses.

Thoughts?

There are no Dual Core motherboard that use AGP graphic cards. I guess you just have to sell your 6800GT, & get a 7800GT, they are much cheaper now anyway.

And i wouldn't go for anything Intel these days, they are slower, run hotter & much more expensive. Is use to be the other way around, but i think Intel had spend too much on marketing & not R&D.

I've just got an issue with upgrading a card that games haven't even caught up to yet

About a month before I have to make a decision, so .... ho hum......

fear not... Albatron does make a AGP to PCI express converter so you can use you AGP card in a PCIe slot. Not sure where you can get one though...

Just like lots of other products, the ATOP are not availible in Australia at the moment

and they said they might not bring them into Australia

Asrock are fairly entry level stuff, & their bench mark score are usually fairly low too.

Hmm....some interesting options there.

I love that comment on the ATOP page :

Note that some models in each of the series listed above are low-profile and some are not.
The models that are NOT designated as low-profile, when used with the ATOP, may interfere with the vertical clearance in the computer casing.

Could be time to get out the hack saw

Will definately keep an eye on those.

here is a review for the ULI chipset that supports PCI Express and AGP 8X.

same as the asrock boards chipset, so there should be more boards from other manufactures on the way soon
