What I want to know is how come these mint condition, never-used Altezza's keep popping up. My set was the same, never fitted to a car though the seal on them had already started to go so I'd say their storage conditions weren't as good as the set currently on Ebay.

Just a hint for anyone buying these, Customs will charge duty on them which is a fair bit on top of what these lights will go for :(

From memory it's a percentage of what they're worth. And you're talking hundreds of dollars on top. I managed to avoid most of the fees but I can't really say how as it would be incriminating myself ;)

okay then, what about if you buy them for me, (as where both in brisbane), side step the extra charges like you did, and ill make it work your while.

Just seems stupid to bid for something and then have to pay an extra few hundred to get em, and then install on top.

So if they dont go to something ridiculous like 3 million pounds, we could arrange something.

Let me know what cha think

Tell customs that they are going on a car over 30 years old....
Cars classed as "Vintage" (ie over 30 years) are exempt from import duty on parts.

I know, your thinking 'how the f*ck are these lights gonna pass for a car over 30 years old?...'

They dont open the box.

Dimi,
This information is for educational purposes only...

There are two sources of value that customs will use. An invoice and/or the value of the insurance taken out on the package.

If there is an invoice, you're screwed basically.

If there is insurance, you can attempt to convince them that they have been over insured (the first lie). Then you have to _prove_ their value (the second lie).

If there is no invoice and there is no insurance, as above, you have to _prove_ their value.

The Project F site has the original retail cost of these lights which is almost certain to be a long way below what these lights will go for on Ebay. If you were to convince Customs that they are somehow worth that much, then you would only be up for a hundred or so dollars in duty.

I'm not advocating this. Telling porkys to Customs is illegal and those guys are generally pretty switched on so you'll want to be sure of what you're doing.

Good luck if you're going to bid. And if you get them for less than $1600, I hate you ;)

I've had stuff sent to me from the states before,i avoided the charges by having the goods marked as a gift.

the funny thing is there were only 100 made but a lot of them keep popping up all over the place. just a tought and if someone is pretty smart he could make them out here for a lot lesser than the cost, some guy out in the uk smashed his broke the red glass off the old ones. put in led lights and a clear glass on top of them, look pretty much the same as the 2 k + clear lights.
